Give Away Free Solex engines

FREE SOLEX ENGINES. I have 4 solex engines built in China as described in the BGF Hongdu/Solex thread below. I am cleaning out my shop and would like to give them away.

I purchased these engines new from a vendor in Canada. I mounted them on two different bikes as shown in the pictures attached. I have had a lot of fun with these engines adapting them to my bikes. They are very quiet and smooth. However, I have found the engines to be quite unreliable and require a lot of tinkering to keep them running well. I never did follow all of the modification suggested in the thread so that is probably the reason. This was my first experience with motor bicycling and was hooked after my first ride. I decided that I wanted a motorbike that was more powerful and reliable. I have found the perfect combination for me is the Honda 4 cycle, 1.6 hp engine with the Staton friction drive using either the 1" or 1.125" roller (weight is 195#).
If you want these engines you need to be prepared to spend the time with them to get them running well. The engines are complete except for all of cables and hand controls. The engines have less than 2 hours run time each. I would suggest getting two engines so that one can be used for parts if needed. Since nothing is really free, I need to charge for packing and shipping to your location. I have an estimate from UPS for packing of $18 to $20 each and a packaged weight of 23 to 25 #. You can figure out the total cost shipped to your location. If you are able to pick them up from my house in Salt Lake City, they will then be free.

Thanks for looking. The motors will work for someone who has the interest to update.

I have done a little more checking on the packing and shipping cost of sending the motors. The cost of packing and shipping from my zip 84109 to MN zip 55330 turns out to be approximately $45 for each motor. Shipping to closer zip codes would be somewhat less. This makes the free motors not so attractive. Consider these cost when you decide you want the Solex motors.

So far folks want 8, maybe you should become a vendor.

Hold the requests for free Solex engines. I am re-thinking what to do with my four engines. My original thinking was to give these engines to someone with no strings attached. By that, I mean I would not need to invest more time and money and no obligation to provide sound usable engines. However, now I can see that selling one motor to each person and charging up to $45 each for packing and shipping, is in fact, selling the motors just at a lower price. I would still need to invest more money and time and feel obligated to provide value for the money. The only solution I can think of, is to just give them to someone in my area where not shipping and money changes hands. If anyone has a better idea, please let me know.
