I had noticed a power loss on my kit and i went over the carb the spark plug checked the fly wheel magnetos to see if they were rusted and checked exhaust to see if it needed cleaned and i remembered i just cleaned it a few months back and I looked down to notice my exhaust port in the head was about 70% clogged! So I cleaned it out with some wd40 and wooded chopstick ( used wood so i didn't scratch the piston) and slapped it back together and she ran like new! I didn't realize how much power i really had lose until I got on my bike and ran a full potential. I clean my exhaust about every 75 hours. It makes a big difference.

70%, i find this figure hard to believe, considering my bike has traveled 40,000 kilometers in 3 years and i've never cleaned out an exhaust port; never even having an exhaust port that was even remotely clogged, and i use 25:1 oil/fuel ratio.

Having said that, my bike virtually runs at 100% duty cycle because of the loaded trailer weight - the engine is always working it's guts out.

Dont forget mine kit is only 26cc engine. but it was very clogged..what you think i just make this stuff or something..your engine probally has a good exhaust with a exhaust pipe..mine is just a weedater engine..next time i will take a pic for ya

As you know, my setup uses a 2-stroke Chinese bicycle engine, and runs with a stock standard exhaust system.

Maybe you should loose the 26cc weedeater contraption in a ditch and get a proper 2-stroke centre mount engine, that doesn't clog up exhaust ports.

Sounds like you're running too much oil in the mix, or running some kinda crappy oil. 2 strokes will have some buildup by their very nature, but yours sounds extreme. How long do your plugs last before fouling out? I agree with Fabian, ditch that thing and get a real motor. Those weedeaters at the big box stores are total crap, built to a very low price.

The engine it self has proven to be reliable and has worked great for me. thats the 1st time i have any problems with it and its has tons of miles. My spark plugs last around 3,000miles before i clean them. If the only problem i have is cleaning my exhaust port every few thousand miles i would glady take that over any center mounted bike kit..thats pretty much the only thing thats has givin me any problems with this kit.. and it never stopped running it just slowed down..it took me about 5mins to fix the problem once i realized what it was..good enough for me! just because its a small 2stroke doesn't mean it's junk. I guarantee theres way less maintenance on my bike than any center mounted..I kit..i ride atleast 30miles everyday and have not once been broke down along side the road..but i do run the oil rich some times im sure thats alot to do with it..

I sound like your using to much oil, but ha if it's simple to fix and it runs great with the mixture you are using then as the old saying goes if it ant broke don't fix it.
I would clean it every once in a wile and live it alone.

Why you BchCruiser; why you. Why do you make comment on how amazingly good friction drive kits are, yet you are having your fair share of issues, just like those who experience their fair share of issues with the Chinese 2-stroke kits.

C'mon BchCruiser, it's time to get a different system when the engine regularly blocks up the exhaust port to the point that carbon needs to be hacked out of the system with chopsticks.

It's almost sounds like a script out of a bad "B" grade Kung-Fu movie.

Ya i have had one issue in thousands of miles and the kit never stopped working it just slowed down and now it runs great. I will gladly clean out carbon outta the exhaust port every few thousand miles its once a year i gotta clean it..eww big deal.takes me 5min..its called maintenance.. atleast the kit hasnt stopped running or left me broke down. I will stick to my 26cc bee..its a good kit..i get 30mph outta a 26cc engine..thats over a mph per cc..i dont see your 66 cc kits or 80cc kits doing that..i think im good were im at fabian..thanks for your feed back though i will keep all that in mind buddy!
