OSCAR Is Plenty Fast For Me!

Hello,

I've made several engine modifications to OSCAR, mainly to compensate for the thinner atmosphere up here in the High Desert at 3000 feet:

I had the head milled and the combustion chamber scooped by Quenton.

I removed the California-mandated intake restrictor, letting my carb breathe through an unobstructed port.

I replaced my 0.9" muffler insert with a 1.0" insert, allowing 23.4 % better exhaust flow.

I installed a richer main jet, as recommended by Quenton.

I advanced the valve timing by one tooth on the camshaft gear. ( After installing mushroom lifters as recommended by Quenton)

These engine mods increased my top speed to an unknown figure. (I once had OSCAR up to 37 MPH but was afraid to take it any higher, although there was plenty of throttle left for easily topping 40MPH, I'm sure.)

Knowing that my braking efficiency with a rear coaster brake and the front drum brake were not up to speeds beyond the stock 25 MPH, and since my reflexes and peripheral vision were only sufficient for my age of 76, I thought it better not to push it!

In the zero traffic riding area on the rural roads in and around the sprawling 78 square miles of the township of Apple Valley, I'm content with speeds of 22-25 MPH, and when I occasionally see another vehicle, I ride to the side of the road.

I find that my best accelleration begins to come on at 30 MPH, but I don't normally cruise that fast.

That's All.....

Hi Hal

The next SoCal Motor Bicycle Racing event is on Saturday
April 6th 2013 at Grange Motor Circuit in Apple Valley.

Should be close enough for you to drive there on your Whizzer.
Would be great to meet you.

Where is the Grange motor circuit course?

OK, but where is the Grange Motor Circuit in my town?

If I went there it sure wouldn't be on my Motorbike...I wouldn't be up to a ride like that...too nervous for me!

Racing? That's the LAST thing I'd ever want to do at my age!

I'll go in my automobile and look for you.

HEY RACIE:

What's your name, anyway?

You don't need to GET your luggage rack put on...it's easy to put on yourself!

I wasn't suggesting that you race.
It's a very fun event with an amazing collection of motorized bikes
and their creators.
We get quite a few spectators that join in the fun without getting on the track. :)
