OK, so ive done all the research and searched the threads and tried everything but now it started and ran for 2 minutes and died again.

What ive done so far:-
2 painstaking days to meticulously mount the motor so it is as solid as a rock'
Castrol TTS 20:1 fresh 98 grade fuel
in line filter
o-ring seal in carby
carby cleaned (about 5 times now)
All nuts & bolts double tripple checked for torque
NGK b6hs plug inserted today and she fired immediately, i pulled in the clutch to try and keep the revs going, it stalled.
Back to the garage, another new plug (thought it may be destroying plugs, shortened the plug wire and cleaned the carb again
fired after nearly 199 heart rate and I rode it for 5 minutes dodging all sorts of cars and pedestrians to avoid stopping.
This thing was laboring, it is spluttering and doesn't want to go (air filter is off at present, tried covering it a little whilst riding but that made it worse.
So i'm ready to ditch this pos soon, I just cant be stuffed wasting all this time on it when my two perfectly good motorcrossers in the shed could be doing with my TLC, but its my sons bike and he's aching to ride it.
So all up its run 4 times:-
3 minutes
3 minutes
20 seconds
5 minutes
Ive also used 1/2 can of quick start which appears to do nothing really, the floats are set fine, needle & seat clean, clip set 3 from top, so everything is set for it to run, so why isnt it?
Please help if you can?

Sounds like carb. I dont know if HT's have chokes but if they do, use it. Pedal it in choke till it pops, then switch the choke off or half and pedal until it goes. But you ride motocross so you probably know that. But sometimes on my engines if you dont use the choke the carb will not get enough vacuum to properly prime itself, and it will run lean and sputter for a few minutes.
But if it gets going lean like this (uneven, smooth tone with little power) let it idle untill it settles down. It will probably cut out if you rev it. If the idle sudenly gets smoother and drops rpm while doing this, give it a really quick burst of gas to dump in some fuel.

One quick thing to try is to drop your needle to the leanest position and see if it helps, if not, try the richest position. If neither makes a difference, at least you can get back to where you were.

Oh that's nothing. It's taken me two years to get the engine to run properly and for the rest of the drive train to be reliable.

Persistence and perseverance is the key to success in this game.

If you've only been messing about for a couple of weeks trying to get it to run right, you haven't even started down the road to pain and despair as the bike/engine/drive train crushes your spirit and ability to live and function in this world.

After two years of pain and heart ache, you'll finally achieve some level of reliability - not complete reliability, but a partial level of reliability that from time to time will test your patience and personal fortitude.

Sounds to me like its running to rich. Clean the plug, move the clip to the top most position and back your idle screw out 4 or 5 turns. Leave the air filter off and give it a go. You'd be surprised how small an adjustment on these carbs can be the difference between running and not. Good luck.

OK, took it all apart again last night and put it back together and it started?? nothing different to previously, so I ran the SOB for 15 minutes ****ing the neighbours off no end. got back, set the idling, seemed fine. put the air filter on restarted, tweaked the idling, seemed all good.
Spent the next 1/2 hr adjusting the clutch cables and levers so it was ready for (big grins)Jr to ride today.
I noted the fuel was that hot it was bubbling up the fuel line from inside the carby!! so this thing runs HOT.
Come this morning dead as a dodo!
stripped it all down again, put a second o-ring inside the carb throat because the connection seems real crap tried clip at top and bottom and shes dead as a dead thing. POS I say. life is too short, the Chinese can stop laughing at me now, they have me beaten with their utter crap.
What a total waste of time and money, it obviously for a reason I always say...
Anyway, thanks for the tips and pointer peeps, much appreciated.

Before you get the gain, you have to go through two years of pain - - - - - - - - - - and - - - - - - - - - - - despair - - - - - - - - - - - and - - - - - - - - - - - endless heartache

and

that's the optimistic version of events where it crushes your soul and spirit; causing you to contemplate if life is worth living; knowing that the engine will be waiting to push you over the edge in only 12 hours time.

I can say that my engine (the very same engine as yours) is perfectly reliable; starts first go and takes me on adventure after adventure, "BUT" i had to endure years of pain and suffering and personal inner torment that (at times) crushed my will to live.

OK, you have convinced me and judging by the hrs and $ people are spending on these garbage cans, its a full time dedication which i will reserve for my current passion. 2 weeks of my life wasted and I'm calling it, Its to the tip tomorrow.
thanks peeps, over and out.
