I've got a '99 Whizzer & the motor will choke & sputter a little at full throttle. I find myself "feathering" the throttle to get it to run smooth and as evenly as possible. I've heard that those engines are restricted. What's involved in correcting that, and what other things can you look at initially to tune these out a little?

Many people take the restrictor plate between the carb and cylinder and bore it out. Many say to keep it though to keep the carb from boiling over. I'm not sure how that will affect the wc-1. many people convert the wc-1 to the ne-5 cylinders for reliability, but i think the ne-5 cylinders are hard to come by nowadays.

Im sure one of the Whizzer gurus will clarify, and you can see in other forum posts by Quenton of how to make any whizzer a bulletproof fire breathing monster.

Some of the simple ones are, remove the restrictor from the inside intake port, use a hi flow muffler, advance timing one tooth, set exhaust @ .009" and .007" intake.

All WC-1 and NE need one tooth advance, forgot to add milling 40 to 60 thousandth off the head also helps. and a copper head gasket.

I know this is an older thread... But has anyone done a how-to on advancing the timing one tooth? Also is milling the head on a stock WC-1 possible? If so, will it cause more heat? And last, where can I purchase a copper gasket?

mill 40 thousandth off head, should be good, heat isn't the problem, theres not enough material by spark plug hole and head bolt and will cause a hair line crack there.
i'll look to see if i have any more copper head gaskets. maybe www.whizzerusa.com

Thanks for your reply. Since you're local, know anyone locally I could have mill the head? Or should I send it to Quenton here on the forum (not sure if he still does that service)?

Let me know if you come up with a gasket, I will gladly purchase it from you... And thanks for posting that cam advancement diagram, that makes it pretty clear.

Sorry for not posting sooner, I have the copper head gasket if you still want it, it's yours. I'll need a mailing address.
milling the head can be done at a lawn mover shop or a motorcylce shop. if you can find a 2003 WC-1 head with the 10mm spark plug you can mill a lot more to help bump up the compression, if not, you you can still make your head better by removing, reshaping the pininsula, island from the combustion chameber.
