I'm curious about member opinions on who makes the smoothest running engine - either two or four stroke. I'm very dissatisfied with the excessive vibration in mine and would consider switching.

Secondly, would an ohm meter help me determine the source of an engine miss at low speed? When the bike is running at low speed it bucks a lot as if it were missing. I've done the obvious - NGK Plug, new quality plug wire, checked tank filter and carb for dirt etc.

I welcome all input on both items. rsz_1rsz_beach_scene_2.jpg

IMO, bucking at low speed is inherent in these low quality 2 stroke engines....and can't be prevented.....I solved this by going with a HS 4 stroke engine with the 4G gearcase......

but it can be prevented by getting a good carburetor and Jaguar CDI

Can you give me more info on the engine and gear case please. Is the HS a Honda motor? Also if possible a source for purchasing the engine.
Thanks.

Jaguar says it can be prevented....not interested in arguing the point......The HS engine is a HuaSheng which I've had outstanding results with....Be very careful of the gearcase as different people call them by different names...I buy all of my 4 stroke stuff from bicycle-engines.com in Montana....also known as Birddog Dist......I've had good dealings with them and they answer the phone.........the gearcase they sell are the Stage 111 & 4 G.....I've had good result with both, but a person on here says the Stage 111 is a POS...I disagree...fill the stage 111 with axle grease and NEVER use the gear engager with the engine running.......in fact lock the engager engaged....

Kings has the HS 49cc complete without the tank for $139, that's a pretty good price. They sell it with a reg carb or a diaphram carb so you'll need to choose.

I just looked at Kings and didn't see any such animal, just motor only or complete kit. Carbs are either standard NT junk or CNS.

Jag my response was to thread #4 in reference to OP looking for a motor. On Kings site click on engines only, then when the HS142 pops up hold your mouse over the pic of the 142 and then read the specs in the window. Just hold your mouse over the pic do not click, you can read what I referred to about the carb choices.

I'm not familiar with King's. Please provide me with full company name or web address if you would.
Thanks for your help.
