Anyone have one of these? If so what's your opinion on it? Any problems hitting curbs, or motor hitting the ground while turning? I'm thinking about getting a chain drive in some form, this will be my 1st. Hopefully sell a few things to help cover the cost.

I've no experience with one, my reasons were leverage (don't like the way it hangs, just think of the torque of 12lbs hanging back like that,... now add a bump at 15mph), maintenance seems too much trouble, too close to the ground (rocks hitting the engine, road dust makes for an air cleaner getting dusty quickly).I'm going to suggest a GEBE if you haven't tried one yet, if you have the engine and little stuff like throttle you can probably get your cost down to around $300.
If you do get the axle mount do a little blog here so we can have the second-hand experience.

My buddy STrotter here who has disappeared bought one and I got to ride it.

None of the issues you asked about are problems. It goes good and freewheels when
you back of the gas.

Search for strotter's posts here about the axle mount kit.

Here you go. :)
Good info but I think the last time I saw strotter at the races he and his
2 sons were racing GEBEs with Honda GX 35 cc

13 page thread.

Just thought I would give a one year update.

The gearbox is very normal sounding. I hear the sound of the motor over the gearbox.

It has turned into my now 16 year old son's ride. He puts 5+ miles a day on it. The set up is virtually maintence free. Everytime I ride my friction drive, I get jealous of the axle mount. The only negative is changing the tire or tube. If you get this set up, get a extra thick tube, fill it with slime and get kevlar tires or inserts.

If you are looking for consistent maintence free setup, this is the ticket.

I never did put the higher gear ratio on. Still sitting in my tool box if anybody wants to buy it. 28mph is fast enough for my son to go.
