I took my cylinder body off of the engine to remove a bolt that was stuck. While hitting the body, a small black metal piece (that definitely has a purpose) fell out. Could someone identify what it is and how to get it back in?

plenty of black bits, plenty of metal bits.

and plenty of different engines you might have pulled apart to find such a thing on...

I can't imagine that a little black circlip holding the wrist pin in place could be that much of a problem (should it not be where it's supposed to be), but if you reassemble the top end and hear a scraping sound, it's most likely going to be the wrist pin cutting a boost port into the cylinder wall.

what were you hitting it with? my guess would be a piece of broken ring too! a pic would be useful! also what bolt was stuck that required removing the jug?

PIcs of piece

hey sorry for the late response, here is a picture of the piece

so, with the possibility of.... several thousand different manufacturers of small engines, you expect us to be able to name not only the manufacturer of the engine YOU STILL HAVENT SHOWN OR NAMED, but also to be able to refer to the thousands of service manuals and exploded diagrams stored in our heads, to identify one small part?

one small part that hasnt been pictured too well, half of its obscured by a dirty fat finger!

so.

whats the engine? im assuming its a tanaka or something similar.

im even having a vague feeling that its actually a fourstroke...

sorry to come across as rude, but why cant people think a little? we cant give information, if we dont RECEIVE information.

every second thread "my engine dont go. whats wrong?"

we cant answer those moronic questions. what engine? 2 4 or petrol? rotor even? or a freakin turbine?

all i ask? engine brand. model. capacity if known. pictures. nice clear pictures. we arent you. we dont know how you think or what goes through your head, what you know and what you dont....
