ok so I got a motored bike and I need a rim but problem is its a beach cruiser can anybody tell me how they converted theyre coaster brake rims to go on a single speed beach cruiser with a motor if so how do you stop cuz I have no rim an nowhere to turn to begin to fix it. the rim I had my tensioner took out the spokes so now im screwed. an it was a coaster brake rim just without the metal pice that sticks out the side that trips the brake I toomk that off and I was fine for 400 miles then my spokes get taken out now im screwd please help!!!

I just converted a coast brake bike to a 5-speed last week, the thing you need to do is file or grind the teeth of the pedal sprocket thinner to accept the speed chain which has alternating wide, narrow links. You'll also need a front brake too, and I like to put an old caliper brake on the rear just in case.

Look on craigs for bike repair guys who work out of their garage and see if any wheels are for sale.

There's a good suggestion. You might get up and running again for, say, 25 bucks.

And you can always buy a new wheel for about 50 or so. And anything you do to repair yours, re-lacing it for instance, is going to cost you somewhere near that much anyway.

SourD, if you buy a used rim spin it holding it by the axle in both hands and check for straightness and vibration in the bearings, noticed you were a youngin.............good luck. Check for loose spokes too.
