My first CUSTOM build

Ok, so I see everyone building their bike I figured I'd start my own build thread in hopes that I can get some good feedback and if anything ideas on where to go with everything. Here is a pic of the jig I setup and the bike sitting in roughly the place it will stand once done. This is a one off build and will be built with chromoly tubing, a pit bike engine, and a jackshaft assembly similar to what I have seen on the motopeds.com build and sickbikeparts jackshaft setup. What I have on order that should be here in a few days: exhaust, handle bars, sprockets for wheel and jack shaft, and disk brakes. What I have now: head tube, wheels and tires, engine, seat, track ends, throttle, carb, (air filter on order). What was custom made: the rear hub which is a dual disk rear from Phil Woods..This will give me disk brakes and bolt holes for the sprocket on either side of the hub. Tires are Hookworms and Halo SAS rims with a Halo Spin doctor from hub...using a Manitou Circus front fork(really stout little fork for the price)..Using a Cane Creek headset and the head tube is a 44mm 4130 tube from paragon machine works. Whats needed: tubing(measurments for tubing), 3/4" shaft for sprockets to ride on, a custom made bottom bracket or I might decide to go with SBP wide bottom bracket setup but not sure if will be wide enough for what I need(if anyone has exact measurements of how wide it is after pedals installed that would be awesome)

ok..I had to change my jig because it wasn't holding the engine well enough but I think I got the seat height where I want it and jackshaft space figured out.. it's metal time but have to keep reminding myself to not rush and double and triple check everything or I'll miss something small that ends up being something big. more pics

and just for those who care.. wheel base is 51" sitting on 26" Halo SAS rims will Phil wood spokes(13 to 14 gauge.. they use these spokes in e bikes so they should be plenty strong but time will tell if I need stronger). engine is a 110 SSR engine. running a custom jackshaft similar to motoped (still need to get chain tensioner for engine to jackshaft but from jackshaft to engine will have trackends that do the tensioning). Frame might get changed from chromoly to regular Dom tubing but will see because weight will only be at most about a pound which is a lot on a bike but maybe I'll just lose that weight myself. Felt seat, handlebars and steering stem.

since you asked for our opinion in the first post...

You seem to have stuff figured out, and are you going weld the frame? Will the welds withstand the weight, not to mention the design of the frame are the stresses and forces suited for the build?

I don't have an opinion if it is, or it isn't, just wondering if you worked it out yet.

I dont have a tg welder or bender so going to have some one tig weld it up..I could tack it up with my mig welder but really want a good product. as far will the welds hold the weight..yes they will with good welds. the tubing can honestly be pretty thin if made with lots of supports but this will have a minimum of .89 thousandths tubing which will hold nicely. the pictures don't have the support plates shown because I just didn't want to make that with the stuff I had knowing it will be there in the end
messing around with foam tubing is one thing but understanding the true piece is more in my head and in the building process as I go since I know small modification will be needed on the fly. more than likely I will have to build one mock one before I have a final production one if I decide to make these for fun

So, I wanted to give a heads up to those who might be looking at this build thread. Just ordered tubing from Shapiro Metals..4130 - .095 Normalized tubing with 1/8" plate and 3/16" plate for the support plates that will be going in. Also, the tubing size I am using is 1" and 1 1/4"...from my measurements the frame if all goes as planned should weigh around 25lbs hopefully less but we will see. With the engine and all the other parts my goal is to be under 90lbs...From the two bikes I have seen built that are really nice bikes (motoped and sportsmans bike)..they both weigh around 110lbs..but one is using a 200cc engine and the other a 42lb Honda pit bike(or chinese engine). I think if anything I will be right on the mark with these guys and with engine size and gearing..I should be about the same speeds as well. Anywhere from 35 to 50mph...to I intend to go that fast..no..my intentions are to have a bike that can take me back and forth to class and around the neighborhood when I am bored. Really glad my wife doesn't care what I do with this bike, she just wants me to stay out of trouble..mmmuuuahahahahahahah Alright, enough of that. If any of you guys have any questions on anything shoot me a reply. Will be meeting up with the guys I am working with on the bending and welding part of this build this weekend if Shapiro Metals shipping quote is correct. (First time using these guys but their prices could not be matched for normalized 4130 tubing and plate..lets just hope they didn't give me crap and I have to let the whole world know but I think these guys are good, but I have been wrong before; time will tell)
