Shipping these bikes

Hey all..Ive been selling these motorized bikes locally..but now I just got a call from someone who wants to buy one from New york..im in florida

Question for you builders..what is the best way to ship these bikes? UPS?? or maybe a freight company? Whats the average cost?
Any advice would help me out bigtime..thanks!

Can't help you with cost but having worked on a ups truck all I can say is never ship bulk items with them, they're very good with small packages but the bulk ones are normally in the way so they get climbed on and get handled pretty roughly. I would recommend sending them with a dedicated freight company. As for cost I have no clue, there's plenty of freight companies to shop around for a good price.

I've shipped 3 MB's and one method is an AirCaddy box.

On another I stopped by my local bike shop and got the shipping box from the biggest bike they carry (big 29") and broke the build down to fit.

My favorite way to ship an MB now however is to ship it intact.

There is an exchange web site you can enter what you have to ship including locations and time frame, and independent truckers bid on carrying your load.
Just goggle motorcycle shipping.

In my case a husband and wife team with a 1 ton truck and huge 5th wheel 'toy hauler' trailer took a 4-stroke 3-speed shifter standing up intact with some fuel in it 350 miles from Phoenix, AZ to San Diego, CA door to door in 2 days for $300.

The customer was tickled, they rolled it out and he started it right up.

With motorcycle sales, you get a lot of scammers asking you to ship the bike. I'm not saying this is one of those scams, but just be wary of it.

If he asks you to ship through an unknown carrier and wants you to send him a check for shipping, that's when you should back away.

This is the rig that showed up.

Get a detailed pic of the driver holding their licensee for reference even though uShip is the broker and they don't get paid until it arrives safe and sound.

They loaded it up, strapped it down and covered it up for the trip.

Shipping a $600 MB is not practical, but shipping a $4600 build is, heck I have a new build going now for an out of state guy that's going to fly his private plane in to pick it up.
Yes, his plane is big enough to stow it standing up, 3 of them if wanted so he says.

It makes no diff to me, I get paid in advance.

Google around and see, that's how I found uShip and it worked dandy for me.
