New to Bikes

I haven't been on a bike in...jeez 5 years at least! I still know how to ride (never forget eh?) and looking at getting one for commutes to work. Electric is too pricey I'm tempted to buy a cheap used bike on craigslist and a gas motor (I live in hilly Central New York). I'll be asking lots of questions on the forum
