Pedaling without engine

How does it feel to pedal your bike with the clutch disengaged?

How about pedaling a bike with a jack shaft shifter?

Does the pedaling feel heavier than carrying the engine (or books) in a back pack?

Not incredibly so. there's a bit of drag from the engine, but nothing too considerable if you're set up properly.

people needing to pedal a lot & uphill, often unhook the motor chain & just loop it over the motor out of the way since it does add a bit of drag to the bike

Just raise the motor/spindle up off of the tire and it's a regular bike again........FD does have some advantages.

like excessive tire wear, poor performance in wet weather, and an incredibly high center of gravity. I'll stick with chain drive.
