I believe that friction drive is so versatile that it is my number 1 choice of power transmission. To make friction even better, it would have a shifter. A Rube Goldberg comes to mind after watching the above video and the roller that he used. If you can lower the roller, why not be able to shift the roller left or right about 2"? You might be able to have a 2 or 3 speed combo roller. Possibly worth a try. Waddayathink?
