My first build , I am new to the game. Electra Vince 3i

I just bought my first bike to try and convert to a motorized kit. After picking up my bike I am starting to see a lot of challenges with an Electra Vince 3i. I loved the way it looks and rides. there is a lot of tight spaces I need to make work. I am sure I will be posting in the other categories very soon. Thank you guys for any advice,

That's it . I took pictures this morning before work. I want to put a 4 stroke on it. I was not sure where to buy the kit from. It seems like gasbikes.com is the main site I keep finding. I am having breaks installed on it this week. I do not trust the coaster break alone, I did not want to skimp on safety. The rest I am trying to do my self. I loved the way the bike looked and rides, but I am starting to find some challenges with the rear hub. I am trying to figure out what gear set up to use and what I can use that will work with the rear hub. I did not realize it was a 3 speed until it got delivered. Do I need to get a new rim set up or is this possible? As far as the motor goes was looking at this one: http://www.gasbike.net/212cc-death-row-4-stroke-kit.html Please let me know if you guys have any better ideas. I am 35 years old and new to this. The reason I am doing the build is because I work downtown San Diego and parking is costing me almost 120 a month. I can do a 12 mile ride and put the bike inside the office at work. The hills in San Diego get fairly steep in some parts. I just saved enough to get the bike. On Friday April 3rd I plan on ordering the motor kit. I will also have to find a rear mount gas tank.

DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT buy ANYTHING from GASBIKES, KINGS, OR ZONE8.....they will screw you .....will not answer phone, email or chat....don't buy from these people....a good kit is sold by bicycles-engines. com....and they have the 4G kit on sale now....the socalled 5G kit is the infamous "hoot" gearbox that some ingenious scammer renamed it 5G instead of hoot....the hoot gearbox is a real piece of s t, and cannot be made better...

Hopefully it will still be on sale. I will keep posting as the build goes on. Every time I search for a good motorized bike place. Those places are the ones that keep popping up.

Nice bike.
You DO NOT want to make that direct drive, the sprocket WILL NOT fit over that 3-speed hub.

It would however make the perfect 4-stroke 3-speed shifter.

http://SickBikeParts.com has a 4-stroke shift kit that will do it for ~$200.

Look for a real 4G transfer case with HS 142F 4-stroke engine.
The 4G is the best transfer case out there now until the new 10G's get here in a month or so.
The 10G has a 100T freewheel secondary and better output shaft for aligning sprockets.

One other note is it looks like that 'gas tank' could be made a real one like I did with this.

I don't know how that is put together but if it's anything like the Columbia 1937 you can make it a real tank, I have a topic about how I did here you might want to read.

Happy to help Skunx, gears really change everything, especially with a 49cc 4-stroke.

Here is a little up close and personal of how it works.

If that chain looks odd, that is because it is KMC HL 710 Half Link chain.
It makes sizing the chain for each side easier and it's double tuff stuff.
Expensive as heck, $30 a box, but it does both sides.

The shift kit comes with a nice HD 410 Z chain that usually fits and works fine, that is just another option.

You can slide the engine forward for left side chain tension, but to do the right side you are supposed to move whole engine base plate up.
That is seldom a good option but you can use the wheel from kits tentioner for the right side.
Just make a little slot on the side of base plate and use that wheel.

The future bases from SickBikes will most likely include this slot, but for now you need to drill your own.

I can't wait to see the finished motorbike. That Vince is very unique.
Coaster brakes work fine as long as you have a front brake too.
