KC's 68cc 4-stroke 4-speed soft tail

I bought this engine a few weeks ago because it was a great price, under $300 delivered, and I figured I could use it.

Bought a big Electra bike to put it on but changed my mind and putting a 49cc HS 142F direct drive on that and bought this today for the 4-stroke 4-speed semi automatic motorcycle engine.

Got the foot peg kit too and even with a discount $2,521 delivered, but it should come out looking like this.

I don't which one I am more excited about building, the Fat Tire Sun as a 7-speed 2-stroke or this 'Motorcycle with Pedals' hehehe ;-}

I found some instructions.
3 videos here
https://motopeds.com/how-to-assemble

And readable, printable assembly instructions here.

It's nice to see where all the parts go so it's assembled properly as this is no bicycle frame, bicycles are easy without any instructions, this started as just a bare frame and no parts.

This MotoPed is a dirt bike motorcycle with pedals ;-}

while at the time, i disagreed with the old guy at one place, "read the instruction manual when it DOESNT work" on a job like this, i do agree... no manual needed! i have faith in you, mr vale!
Thanks HS but I found what I was looking for.

Specifically, how and where the optional foot peg mounts...

... will interact with how the frame and jackshaft are assembled.

I'll take some pics and notes as I go.

Everything that can is getting blue locktight as I go, the rest when everything is aligned, and in a big pile of nuts and bolts, washers and spacers, and just odd funky pieces, it's nice to see where they all go ;-}

... that frame, the accessories do look better than the standard "cheapo" pitbike bits, so 2000 for that could...just...only just...be justifiable.
Then this will hurt...
You are looking at $2,250 delivered (US) with the shipping and customs charges, mine was $2,500 with the foot peg kit.
Justifiable?
I'll find out in a week or two but this build should move along to a 'ALL done' status at quick pace now ;-}

---

Other than the gaudy stickers, I am pleased with how the $650 'triple tree' shock fork arrived.

I'll need to pull the steering tube out to get the bearing races on, but it's beats all of that being another box of 'just parts' as well.

There are 3 pretty good assembly videos here.

https://motopeds.com/how-to-assemble

Part of the first one was about how to assemble the front fork which itself is just more knowledge of what makes it work?

I tend to gather all of that stuff I can, bummer I am starting to forget most of it hehehe ;-}

I forgot I had a topic for my MotoPed build, here is an update.

All dressed and no way to go...

As warned in the MotoPed page my engines kick-start lever may not clear the pedal sprocket below and requires an off-set lever.

Cole is out at the motorcycle shops today to try and visually find one but most likely we we will cut the stock one and weld us up one that fits.

Other than the air cleaner and that it's done.

It turned out pretty don't ya think?

Now if I can start the thing! It's killing us ;-}

My son crashed the MotoPed.
A lady cut him off and down he went.
To make it worse she ran over the bike, twice.

He's OK, the bike so-so.
Now we have to hassle with the insurance company.

Man THAT sucks. People!!!
Actually she has been pretty good about it and insured.
She knew and said it was her fault, even signed a paper saying so, she even let my son load it in here her SUV and drive them both back here to my house.

It spilled gas and oil all over the back inside and she didn't complain, well, much.
It did make a mess but everything was back here.

KC, I'm so glad your son was not badly hurt. I hate the motorped was damaged but given what might could have happened I know you must feel relief, not regret.

Yes very relived, on a lessor bike things could have been much worse.
The MotoPed fantastic brakes, rims and shocks took a lot of the impact out and my son is fine, if she hadn't run over the thing, twice, the bike would have come out better too.

What can I say, my wife just backed her 2015 Honda CRV into our brick mailbox and did about $1500 damage to it. She's been backing out of the same spot for over 10 years and her Honda has a backup camera on it! I can't say too much tho as I've had several trees jump out behind me while backing up in the woods.

has a backup camera on it!

and here lies the problem. ive always stuck me head out the window and watched where im going... cant stand mirrors, and as for these reversing cameras... amazing how many things get reversed into these days. i landlord over a panelbeaters workshop, i see them all :)

as cars get more and more like the loungeroom or settee, is it any wonder people have more and more accidents?

just sit down in your padded, leather seats, all auto adjusted and heated to your perfection (it took me twenty minutes to find the heater switch in my friends honda so i could turn the horrible thing off!), turn on the stereo and the AC and settle back to some lionel ritchie wailing about how easy it is and forget for a few minutes that the image in front of you is whats OUTSIDE YOUR WINDSCREEN AND YOURE HURTLING TOWARDS IT AT 60!!!! (100, cus im aussie..)

cant hear the engine... cant hear the sirens... just all bundled up in a nice privatious box that is all seperate from reality until CRUNCH SLAM BANG...

tell you what...you dont fall asleep when riding a motorbike or a mini moke, old dunebuggy, etc....

and then all the excuses to justify these pointless luxuries...

" i drive a lot, i need a comfortable seat"

"sitting in traffic is so dull without the stereo (or even a video!)"

"my arthritis/injuries prevent me from turning my head more than 10 degrees"

"its cold outside"

"i get lost without my GPS"

"i was too busy watching rammstein video clips and twittering about it, to see the guy on the bike"

all good reasons to hand in your license and start walking, i say :)

i forget what this thread is about...

NOOOOOO!!!!!! not the motoped!!!

um...we got pics of before...what about after? as cruel as it is :wacko:
