Hey,
So just getting into this and I hear a lot about ...are these engines good are they any
different from one to the other . All I know is I got a engine 80cc kit off ebay new with shipping
for $ 110 !!!. Now I'm not rich but I do have a Harley that I built and work on my self . It cost me about $50
to do just a oil change on it . So If this motor last me a year I'll be happy, pull It off and get a new one .
The only thing I thought was crap is that rear sprocket rag thing so I got a Hub adapter that works great .
I also included a few pics Of my motor brake down in case someone doesn't have it . My bike is also a Kent La Jalla
That i'm sure some will say is crap but if you grease it and adjust it I think It will last . I have a Genesis 2100
that I beat the heck out of and it still rides great .
This is a awesome site and I appreciate all you guys have shared .I'm psyched to get more into this , It's a
great hobby !!!
Thanks

At that price, I'm guessing it is one of the pre-2012 motors. These aren't horrible (everyone used them until 2012), but they do then to vibrate a lot over 25mph or so.

These kits are as reliable as the builder (so don't expect a lot out of your first time building unless you're an awesome mechanic).

read a lot here & learn how best to do it

hey , Thanks man I will . How can you tell a pre 2012 ? i included a motor breakdown so what is the difference ?

pre-2012 motors were balanced for 50cc bore and stroke and needed a considerable amount of work to not shake your teeth out

Hey , you telling me that being balanced by some 12 year old chinese kid is going to make a difference ??
lol thanks man .

there are many ways to balance a crank for the same engine for power or speed or smooth running - I've seen no reports on what anyone is balancing for in these, so I usually just call them machined cranks because they are much lighter overall

I certainly like the smaller mains that eliminate the external seals too.

you'd be surprised, I just measured the runoff on the best crank I ever had and the worst crank I ever had. The best had an 8 tenths runoff and the worst had a 65 thou runoff. the 65 thou one came from an engine made before 2012
