You're welcome ;-}

I like the HS 49cc, I get the gasbike center mount 4-stroke kits with the 4G belt drive and just use whatever cheap non-synthetic 30w oil is handy for the first hour of operation, then change it to whatever synthetic oil is on sale for use from then on.

Just an oil change tip...
Do it often and make it easy and clean to do with a little tool like a big syringe and piece of gas line.

I don't know where you buy them, these were used for giving my Pop's med's through his stomach feeding tube before he passed but they sure make it easy to remove the old oil and then put in new oil.

Forget about the useless dip stick, just fill until the oil hits the bottom of the threads of the fill hole.

One more tip...
Keep an empty oil bottle around to discard the old oil but but before you squirt it in squirt some on your chains ;-}

Got a quick question for you. So if my engine (which is new) is running hot.. Would it be that I didn't put enough oil in?? I was told only fill to the top of the dipstick.. Yesterday I did a 20 mile run.. Then this morning I did a couple of blocks and the engine was hot.. I Let it cool, and did a 3 block run, and it didn't run that hot..

I also hear that idling is not good for these.. Am I missing something?

I got a box of 50 at a dental supply - they use them to inject filling material into a cavity.

Unless you removed the pullstart cover, the flywheel fan should keep it cool at idle. In my case, I removed the flywheel cover off my predator engine for a more vintage look as I can just wrap a rope around the starter pulley but I don't recommend it for the little 49cc's. The predator doesn't rev quite as high as the hs engine, so overheating isn't as much of a concern.

It's normal for the engine to get hot, it's an engine. One that has a little explosion in it's cylinder roughly 8 times a second at idle. Are you running the plug that came with the kit?

The kit spark plug for these is usually hotter than it needs to be. I suggest getting an NGK CR7HSA or better yet, a CR7HIX. Much better than the kit plug.

it's okay for the engine to idle, it has it's own cooling fan. Remember, this is an aircooled engine, temperatures will vary quite a bit. Hot, to a point, is absolutely normal.
