Keep your bikes hidden and locked!

Or at least make it so it won't start to aid their get-a-away and frustrate them when they ever try to start it.

It's pretty easy really, just epoxy a little a little box to the top of the CDI with a keylock switch that shorts the input like your kill button does.

The best part is even if they break the cover off and it leaves some CDI wires, which it usually won't, their first thought is to short the two wires that go to to the switch to make it go.
Hehehe, when the switch is 'ON' it shorts out the system and keeps the engine from starting.

Consider that just another way to make the low life scum sucking thieves lives a little more unpleasant ;-}

This is a really great idea KC I actually incorporated this into my first build but I drilled a hole in the gooseneck and epoxy resined the key barrel up to it right next to my kill switch wiring just for convinience.

Like you said not impossible to bypass but chances are if they're trying to steal your bike it's most probably not someone who has built one of their own and would be able to work it out quickly.

Have we ever considered that a bike (traditional) thief will know how to start a motorized bike much less operate one. I mean especially for the 2-strokes with the manual clutch and even the 4-strokes with choke start. I can imagine a bike thief trying to peddle against the engine compression on a high compression head 2-stroke... Slowest getaway ever, LOL.

move to the country and leave even your front door unlocked like i do :)

Close, I live at the end of a dead end road but I keep my doors locked as it's a 'shady' part of town.

I also don't worry about all the bikes that rotate through here, but then again I can keep most inside the house/shop with 2 big dogs but sometimes have to have some outside.

A simple lock is all I bother with as my back gate is a chore to open anyway and the dogs let me know if someone is even trying.

Grocery type stores are a different story, I roll right in the store and park it where the camera is pointed ;-}
