Springer Fork

Okay, so wait... springer fork actually GOOD for suspension or just really nice looking?

I've never owned a springer fork and I think they would work good, at least for a while. To me they just don't look built to last. I think the linkage is what sets that off for me.

find either a mountain bike fork or make a triple tree moped fork work

This was good advice I think and though I didn't find moped forks, I did find triple tree.

Honestly, I feel like a mountain bike fork looks flimsy as well, though I could be wrong. Either way, a triple tree usually has no suspension, which defeats the purpose, but might be longer lasting. Either way, I was looking at the pics of the bike I bought from the seller, and I noticed it may actually come with a decent suspension. Any thoughts... here is what I ordered.

Any suspension is better then none.

Front suspension is nice when your front wheel hits that bump but is very abruptly followed by the BAM from your rear end lol.

I bent an axle that way a few days ago, ordered some grade 8 threaded rod from mcmaster carr last night, hopefully it'll make a good replacement and not just be so hard it snaps instead of bends

This is why I have a big 4 spring seat. LOL I am 225 pounds. I have over a gallon in her and so far so good with the springier I have on my first build and let me tell you I have hit some mighty big holes! I know all about springier s with ridged frames and wheel hop (which in motorcycles this is what it is called) as I owned many a Harley that was ridged with a springier and they where all stock Harley s but one. My first motorbike build has a springier and so is my seconded. Hard to tell much till you run while for a 100 or so miles. I voice my opinion from experience.
Thanks
Jeff

Well I pulled the trigger and have a Monark II (arrived 5/3) , and then today got to thinking ( Happens all the time).
There is no hole in the lead fork for the fender mounting tab ! Do I drill a hole in my brand new Monark ? Recommendations ?
Trust me, I'm all ears.

Well I did get the triple tree forks but I decided against them and went with some MTB suspension forks. So I've got a set of cheap SR Suntour forks on the way. I'll post some pics in my build thread once I get them installed. I know I'm gonna have to use some headset spacers with the 250mm steerer tube but that's ok because I want some rise to my handlebars. I'm just waiting on getting those until I can install the forks and see exactly how much space I need to fill. I already have the stem and a set of handlebars is on the way.

Tuesday the Monark II fork and disc brake from BBR arrived. Pulled out the brake disk and mounted it to the wheel /hub assy. I bought and there is a unworkable bind. The disk is tight to the steerer leg and the button head screws are right against the leading fork. I just went out and made a measurement from outside wheel flange to inside brake plate and came up with 71mm + or - .25mm my reading. Is there such a thing as a wheel hub measuring 66 or better yet 61mm from outside flange to disk mating surface? I need to know ASAP.
And I thought fender mounting was a big deal.
