Hot Shot Magneto Coil- buyer beware

There’s a seller on EBay advertising a Hot Shot magneto coil with more windings and erroneously saying that it improves spark power. I know it doesn’t because the clue he gives is that the voltage is increased from 6 to 12 volts. That is talking about the lighting system part of the coil going to the white wire, not the main coil which goes to the blue wire (which produces 30 volts at normal engine speed produced by pedaling the bike before you dump the clutch). (There are two coils wound together around the iron core)
I sent him this message on EBay:
“You have obviously increased the number of windings for the white wire which goes to a lighting system, not to the CDI. You need to change your information to say so. The voltage from the white wire has no effect on the CDI or the high voltage coil or the spark. I am the maker of the Jaguar CDI so I know what I'm talking about.”

Here’s the EBay ad: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-IMPROVE...551117?hash=item41a5ae80cd:g:uAcAAOSw0vBUcNxU

how you measuring this 30V?

a standard RMS voltmeter? only works on sine waves, and usually only work on 50/60 hz power supplies.

try using a scope and seeing a peak voltage of 200 or so when cranking ;)

kudos to the guy...he managed to setup to wind the freaking things. they arent easy.

I used an analog meter set on AC. that is while the coil is disconnected from the CDI.

I do not think there any such thing as 12volt stator. Sorry to say there are many crooks on eBay that will say anything to make a sale and eBay does not care. I called and reported a seller one time to eBay and the eBay rep said the seller sells too much to worry about the infraction.
