Hi everyone

I'm Scott from the lovely Scottish Highlands. I'm run a small engine service, repair and Rebuild Business. I bought bulk 8 Hp Cutter 66cc kits last year and just getting round to building a bike now. I've build a few bikes already using different strimmer engines with mixed results. We have lots of long empty roads and trails. I build for reliability and endurance.

Looking forward to learning more and joining in the craziness on here!

Hello from Wales. :) What engine are you using? Are you getting 8hp from a 66cc strimmer engine? I would love to see pictures of the bike you are building with that! :)

Hi sadly its not 8hp. The company who ive bought the kits from is called HP Cutter. I wish i could squeeze 8hp out of a 66 haha.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

If I had it would be the greatest tweaking masterpiece ever. I'm guessing my 66 has 2 if that though I'm happy with the endurance and 17mph. It will go a bit faster though I enjoy cruising along

I think it would take a miracle with the China bike engine. I have a generic 66 too, I'm trying to save up to get a shift kit (and lots of the options). Hoping to get reasonable endurance and mimimal noise by keeping rpm low. I don't mind the lower power either. :)

I like to go fast so neither could help me none;)
I know it takes engine speed to produce power; but at ~30mph on flat ground the power is mostly used to fight air resistance. You could probably reduce the air resistance to some extent and go faster for the same power, or the same speed with less power, better fuel efficiency and improved reliability.
I think gears are part of the solution, along with modifications for "low" RPM range power, but we will see.
200 watts (an untrained regular cyclist) is equal to 0.26 horsepower so being able to pedal along with the engine could (i hope) give a noticeable boost to engine power at "low" RPM range.

I agree on gears but if you just want speed who needsm??? A 41 tooth is perfect for speed, and ride ability.... I don't like pedaling (bicycle, motor... Why should I?) besides you can't pedal a single speed bicyclfe that's going 30mph. What's wrong with a Loud exhaust? Makes people look:D.... Even more since it's a bicycle
