49cc Huasheng clutch issues

I'm feeling a title coming on....

MOTORIZED BICYCLES!

GIVING DRUNK DRIVERS SOMETHING TO DRIVE SINCE 2006!

(Or giving thrill seekers something else to kill themselves on) ;)

LOL, when you say it isnt a "slam" you should probably not call those with a different opinion "a plague of builders". :p JK

I have the junk TC on my 4-stroke and changed to a lower sprocket, which really stretched the transmission chain out to where it was jumping from the sprockets. I went nearly 1k miles on the higher sprocket and had no problem.

I made a chain guide from $5 worth of materials from Ace Hardware and it seems to be holding up. I really want to change it out to a high quality steel bearing though but I want to see if this cheap solution will last (check it frequently). Yeah, unlike a belt, chains stretch and are noisy as all hell. I think the gasbike transfer case is fine but you have to account for the chain stretch in the transmission in whatever way you feel best (tension and alignment of bottom chain). Lynn at custommotoredbicycles has a good way of doing it but she is doing it for a belt (just replace with a chain). The gasbike transmission is $50 and tack on maybe $10 for a chain guide/tensioner inside the case and maybe it will be fine? o_O

What I really want to see if the GP460 (goped motor) high rev 2-stroke motor (11k RPM) with a jackshaft. I know you are busy with your premium builds but that would be awesome to see how much pull and speed the motor can do.

Yes for $356???? You think it is worth that, how long before the chinese will copy it and sell it for $50????

No, I have the $50 transmission from gasbike. After I switched the rear sprocket, the chain in the transmission stretched to the point where it was falling off the transmission sprockets. So, I fashioned a chain guide/roller inside the transmission box for $5. It seems to be working fine but will confirm after 100 miles or so. I might make it better for $10 but eh, its a $50 transmission...

Yes I bought a new one from ebay and it growls and jerks so I took it apart and found a big star washer between the driven pulley and the bearing that was gouging into the bearing rubber. Looks like its needed as a spacer but the hero that assembled it should have just used a flat washer not a star washer.
The first one the drive shaft bearing failed. Do you know what size the bearings are? I believe they are 15mm by 21mm by 4mm but I haven't taken one out to mic it yet.
I have enough stuff to make the tensioner for chain but I don't have enough miles on it to have stretched it that much. Seems ok it just ate the front bearing first.
Who has the best clutch that has weaker springs? I want the clutch to engage earlier. 4 strokes have good torque. Every time I try a new clutch it doesn't engage till around 5000 rpm, too high burns out the shoes too fast.
I tried Rico's method earlier in this thread it works but its hard to get equal length by stretching the springs.
I'm trying to get this issue to the point where its using off the shelf parts without a lot of mods, as I have people who want me to build up for them. They don't have mechanical aptitude, or the money to afford even the tools to maintain the bike. This is a hurdle to get the bikes more into mainstream I think.
I'm in Dubai UAE btw.

I don't know where this $350 price for just a 4G came from...

You can buy the whole install kit for $250 and one including the engine for $299 from here.

When they have 4G's stand alone again they are ~$150 and worth it.

I thought motorized bicycling was so people who lost their license to a DUI could still get around.

You can throw loss of license due to non-payment of child support in there too. Came across that situation when the police confronted me about my moped.

I'm saving up for a CNC lathe/mill and I'm going to make stuff for these things that should have been made years ago. It won't be until Christmas until I get my setup purchased and going and I certainly will not be charging those kinds of prices.

Yep. Lots of reasons to not have a way to get around in an automobile.
But hey, if you want to carry a concealed hand gun with a silencer, your good.
