BIKE STAND

You can get a good tripod kickstand, or assuming you have a coaster brake just go up a tooth or two on the your back wheel pedal side. 18T is what I usually use but it all depends on your bike.
They are a breeze to change, jut pop the retaining ring off and the sprocket comes right off.

Sprockets are cheap, my local bike shop lets me just swap for a different one for free.

That will make it easier to pedal and as a bonus you will have more force for the coaster brake ;-}

Thanks KC and all. but I'm as green as grass with the jargon that's been thrown about.
Having checked the bike today to try the method suggested of kick starting it off but
the rear Wheel is stiff so makes it difficult .

too late to mention that I refuse to build coaster-brake or single-speed bikes - pedal sprockets require no knowledge of the motors, so you should easily find some bike person to help you get something easier to pedal set up

Do you have a local independent bike shop around?
Just take your back wheel in tell them you want a sprocket 2 teeth larger, and you'll most likely need a new chain too as it, but maybe not pending on what dropout's you have.

Post a couple pics of your bike and we can help more.

In the mean time, here are the terms used for parts of a bike.

Not indicated in that is the Bottom Bracket, it's just the hole at the bottom of the frame the pedal crank goes through.
Hope that helps get you up to speed on terms.
