What is up with everybody and these useless cheap shift kits? You people know you don't need them To go fast whatsoever. A stock Skyhawk does 43 with 28t sprocket and 200 lb rider. I'm doing 56 on my Skyhawk ported jug and cut piston and no reed. No dumb shift kit here

And, some people like the fun of shifting gears. It mimics the knowledge needed to ride a motorcycle well. I don't have a shift kit but I think it will be damn more fun with shifting gears for different situations. Nice looking bikes too. :p

Cool if most of your riding is down low tucked in wide open in a straight line.
A 24t sprocket can't be any fun from a dead stop, especially in traffic.

Shift kits aren't about how fast you can make it go.

They are a way to add a transmission using your bikes gears.
It's all about changing the gearing to meet the power limits of you engine on the fly so you can keep RPM's in the 'sweet spot' all the time like most every other monetized vehicle.

Not so dumb bud, shifting revolutionized motorized biking.

I agree with KC. A shift kit might not make you faster, but it sure helps to keep it in the sweet spot, and helps to keep you from thrashing the engine at high rpm all the time.
Having said that, they do add a lot of complexity, and require more up-keep on the drive train itself.

I have to call BS on that.... A stock skyhawk barely has enough power to turn a 44 tooth let alone a 28 tooth, I've run a 32 on one before and it was maxing out at about 25mph because of overgearing..... And second thing, where are you finding 28 tooth sprockets???? Lol I've never seen one that small:D :p

I've seen them smaller.

I agree that a shift kit is a waste of time compared to a good pipe and a good port job, but I don't agree that a stock skyhawk does 43 with a 28t. you'd be lucky to even get it off the line with that gearing, let alone get any speed out of it. overgearing is a thing.

Call what you want but a stock Skyhawk does 43 I have tested and proven all I did was port the jug and skirt the piston and it does 56 now
