Now that my bike is running I'm ready for adventure! Only one tiny, 12 lb, glitch. My little travel buddy. He rides in a crate I've secured to the rear rack on the bike when I pedal. I use his car seatbelt attachment to keep him from jumping out.

I'm a little weary though of the chain breaking or something disastrous happening and him getting hurt.

I'm looking for suggestions or reassurance.

He's got a helmet though he's not decided he likes it yet, and is not really protecting anything. But it's cute.

Maybe some kind of protective roll cage that would soften a fall?

Is anyone else riding with a dog?

Does he like it or is he terrified?
Most problems with this engine don't cause an immediate stop that would throw the dog out.

He likes it without the engine because the bike means the dog park. I haven't tried it with the engine. I think he'll be ok though, he's usually good in any situation as long as he's close to me.

I had a little red dachshund up until last fall. Went with me everywhere. Used to ride in the panniers or saddle bags on the touring bike and in a backpack on the KTM 125. Would ride in my lap on the snowmobile. He didn't like it, but he didn't want to stay home either. Dogs are amazingly adaptable.

Dogs are the best. I just wish they lived forever!

So from the sound of it, I'm just worrying too much?

After work today I'm going to try it out. I'll take him to his favorite park.

youre worrying far too much...

usually, as long as they enjoy it...they love it. just like some dogs will hang out of car windows, whilst others will sit in the corner and cringe or puke...its all up to the dog and experiences...

shame i cant stuff a lab down the front of my jacket like i could with the mini-foxies :( be good on a winters day...

dogs are tough. they are not little people.

Great images! I prefer dogs to people myself.

I took him yesterday. Once the engine started he attempted to jump out. I held him in until we got to our destination, the dog park, then he was fine for the ride back. His little face hanging over the side with his ears in the wind. So I made sure to cruise around a bit longer. He's officially a MB dog.

I still worry a little but I'm a worrier in general. It's the mom in me. But mostly I worry about cars like the guy that nearly hit us coming out of a side street yesterday on his cell phone. Didn't slow down and didn't look left, why would he if he was turning right? (Yes that was sarcasm.)

Now I want to see photos of these foxes! I had a family of them in the yard over the winter and they were beautiful.

good to hear. the sound of the engine will be startling at first, for sure, but once he realises its still the same old bike but noisier... and possibly slightly faster...

foxIES, not foxes! :p lil yap yaps! rat chasing dawgs! jack russell X chihuahua would be the closest equivalent but not quite...

lady down the road had a pet fox or two... not my most favourite animal, especially when they bite all the chickens heads off in the middle of the night and dont even take one body... but they sure are cute.

i hate phones. why is it, i see hundreds of people on phones all day long except for the few times a cop is around? just not fair :(

I don't want to see the nature side of foxies and chickens. :(

And I'm with you on the cell phones! They are out of control. I use mine as a speedometer/radio on the bike but it's all set I don't touch it while riding.
