Exhaust exhaust muffler broke off, safe to ride?

im actually ahead of you. i got the one from sick bike parts. looks fantastic. until then i guess itll sound like someones opening fire with a sub machine gun.

i was riding my bike today and the exhaust, the original chrome one with the end that can unscrew, its muffler litterally just broke off. can i ride it like this?
No don't ride it, just buy a new muffler or expansion chamber, you won't have any back pressure and you will burn out a piston because of the air coming in.

good thing im not riding it. the expansion chamber will be here on tuesday.

You must have not been around these things long.....
You don't have to have back pressure too run. They just don't have any power.

Answer this, how is air supposed to get in if he still has exhaust?

I don't get the back pressure thing me and everyone i know runs little to no back pressure on 1inc long pipe no mufflers thats it and are bikes fly we seem to think its better not for my ears lol.but twice the take off all the way to top speed of 65kmh 67kmh then if i add some back pressure i get 2or 3kmh more .eny restrictions /back pressure means slower air escaping and slower performance. But some say a tuned pipe will work wonders just hasn't worked for me .

if a tuned pipe hasn't worked for you, you haven't had a tuned pipe. most of the pipes you can buy for these motors aren't tuned pipes even if they say they are. I've run the short open header (I went 3 inches of 1.25 inch pipe with a slash cut turndown) and while it was an improvement over an untuned pipe using a tuned pipe gave me all that low end torque and more top speed.

you're right that back pressure isn't what you want, but rather ideally you would have tuned exhaust pulses.

A 2-stroke engine has no valves a like a 4-stroke.
It tries to do intake and exhaust at the same time and your intake starts going out the exhaust.

Just follow the green fresh air/fuel/oil mixture.

The stock mufflers provide some good back pressure, a tuned expansion chamber just more, like a reverse turbo charger.
All that gas/oil mix you have on your bike/driveway/etc. is power you paid for, and literally left on the road with no gain.

The SBP X-chamber is difficult to install, but very flexible in it's configurations.
It is tuned to go one 'as is' for a 48cc engine as they are legal most places and need some help making more power.
For a 66cc I just cut that ~4" straight piece of copper in half for the perfect tune.

Throw in an NGK 7544 (CR7HIX) Iridium spark plug in to ignite all that extra fuel and you will feel all that extra power right away ;-}

Hope that helps ya ;-}

Welcome to the club, everyone should have one of these. It's a nice emergency pipe. Install a muffler and call it good, muffler keeps the humidity out of your system.

You can ride it for a little bit, but it better that you don't because you have the risk of burning out a piston...also you will have a significant power loss, if it still runs, due to lack of back pressure. If you have the 4 stroke kit, you really aren't at too much of a risk.
