How do you mean you have 8 gears? Looks to me like it's set up on the left side not through the gears.
Just spotted you said it's a different bike , but did you make the mount bracket yourself?

This is Motobecane 2.0 or the "double indian" I've dubbed it. its a stock GopPed motor with a modded cag pipe on a custom shift kit. Mounted on a beefed up modified 4t mount plate, thru the stock 8spd cassette.

Can you recall what size the belt drive sprocket was? 5mm? Or the diameter of the driven hoop

The motor drive cog was 5mm pitch HTD, 9mm wide 12 teeth and the sheave is 272 virtual tooth size. I have another sheave and I believe the diameter is 16.5" I'll have to dig it up and measure.

Well i knew this motor made good power. I was cruising at about 35 and my pedal chain jumped and wrapped around the bottom bracket ripping the derailluer off snapping the sram chain and destroyed the SBP 24t drive sprocket... This is not how i wanted my leisure ride to end but now i know the drive sprocket was too little for the rpm that i can turn.

So now I will need to replace the hanger/derailleur, chain and up size the drive sprocket from 24t proportionally so that a 72t can be used instead of the 54t Im currently running. This will allow for more off the line speed ability as well as reduce parasitic drag on the drive system. And my pedal ratio will be better suited to assist at any speed. Right now the pedals don't really have the push I would like with the current setup.

4.2 HP @11000 rpm on a 5:1, to an 11t, then 54t secondary, directly attached to the 24t then to the 8spd cassette.
