New little 4 stroke kit?

I bought my Honda Ruckus used and it was modified with a polini variator and a daytona kevlar belt. It went about 40-45 when I got it, but as I had it for a couple of years the top speed fell to about 30mph and I was holding up traffic. It was super reliable and fun to ride. I now have a Yamaha Zuma 125. It keeps up with traffic at no problem going about 55-60mph. But it is made in Taiwan and the Ruckus was a better machine because It was made in Japan. I'm getting back into MBing because I feel safer on the sidewalks going really slow on a MB than being on the road with my Zuma 125 with cars. With a Ruckus you don't need a Motorcycle endorsement or insurance. With a Zuma 125 you do.
 
Ya I heard they go for $2,700 brand new but I saw a 2014 for $1,600. Would be a nice little gas saver to drive to work I have about a 20 min drive. That's weird how the speed dropped 10-15mph over time maybe the clutch was worn out I know they have automatic cvts or whatever.
 
The kit in post #1 that the OP posted, I have used that transmission that they sell with that kit. I had a Honda GX35 mounted to it though. The transmission is a good little reliable tranny. It is called a 5:1 pocket bike tranny because that is where they came from.
 
The Honda Elite NHX110 scooter is made in China at a Honda licensed factory. It's 4 valve and water cooled 4stroke. I personally know of an owner who has over 67K on his.

Japan,Thailand or China, you can have quality from any of these countries, all bikes can be built to a price point. And the Happy Time engines just reflect a price point. Honda's Thailand manufacturing plant has been making a modern style step-through Cub clones called the Wave since the 1990's and they're very durable bikes. Much of the engine internals and a lot of the electrical components in PacRim scoots and small motorcycles are now made outside of Japan. Ducati's new Scrambler is made in entirely in Thailand.

I'm sure the GX31 is a decent engine, despite being used hard in a Harmony Tiller, it still runs like a top. Looking forward to doing some ride reports with it.
 
Becareful with your GX31 if it was mounted on the FG100 Harmony tiller. I bought a 4 stroke Robin Subaru EHO35V that is black in color and is used on an auger. It is made to run the way it sits so it has even oil flow. I'm not sure if it is safe to run in an alternate position like a 2 stroke can run.
 
Man I want a ruckus can they really go 40-45mph? and no class M needed?

Not in Oregon, and the Ruckus with speed restriction is considered in the moped class of bikes and they still need a regular driver's license, plate and insurance and it can't go over 30 mph.

I worked at a scooter shop which sold a lot of 50cc bikes during the economic downturn of 2007~2010, and taking out the restriction rings in the CVT's, and (or) the engine rpm limiting CDI or exhaust restrictions all made it unlawful for our shop to put these bikes back out on the road without the owner's getting a "M" class license. We also stressed that new owners and people derestricting their bikes take the Team Oregon training for $175, as it gives you hands on instruction with trainers who help make you a better prepared motorcyclist for traffic conditions.

From all the people I've talked to, there's little difference between the two types, mainly being the fuel tank has a different angle to the filler neck.

All of those engines are designed to run in any position. I used to have a Ryobi 845r 26 cc 4 stroke click-link weedeater and you could run it at any angle also. These engines have a 'oil misting oil slinger' and flapper valves that pump the oil mist to the forward crankcase and rockers.

You know what is an impressive 125cc scooter is the Taiwan made SYM HD125.

The 2008 year models were little streetfighters.

It would stomp any of our Genuine, TGB or Kymco 125~150 cc bikes. 67mph out of the box using GPS speed checking on flat and level with no wind if you tuck in a little. 16" motorcycle type wheels, 4 valve head and water cooling, and the water temperature never went above the second bar. Our shop's loaner I rode up to Reedsport and back in a 25 mph headwind at average of about 55 to 62. Return trip was much faster.

Seems pretty unessesary for it to be illegal to only go 10-15mph faster. We're talking about regular traffic speeds. Not even highway speeds. So they're saying it would be illegal to go the speed limit on a scooter. If someone knows how to ride a motorcycle and it is still 50cc but they don't have a class M, I don't think it should matter unless the thing goes 50 or more. Most people building motorized bikes don't have a class M. Some don't even have a class C, I have that though.
