At least 2, but probably more, of these fatalities were only running a single coaster brake...Dual disc brakes are best but NEVER ride with one brake, especially just a coaster brake.

There's a chance it's true however I don't believe a single one of them was caused by it, either they were riding without lights, or appeared to be riding where they shouldn't have been, and almost definitely not one had a helmet. This is what I would call a dumbass, and being one on a bike is an especially good way to get killed. At least 2, but probably more, of these fatalities were only running a single coaster brake...
I know its not a motorized bike, but just happened a few days ago and I ride this same stretch often... Its a huge hill so he was traveling speeds we go. He was practicing for a local race coming up in the next town over.
"A man riding a bicycle was hit and killed in the outskirts of Redlands on Tuesday morning.
The California Highway Patrol said in a statement that the man was riding a bicycle west on Sand Canyon Road, just east of Crafton Avenue. He was riding the bike behind a Honda Accord that was traveling in the same direction on the same road.
“The Honda made a U-turn directly into the path of the cyclist and the cyclist crashed into the Honda,” the CHP said, adding the crash was reported at 10:52 a.m.
Officials said the Honda, being driven by a Yucaipa woman, was traveling at an unknown speed.
The man sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The CHP said the man was from Reno, Nevada, and that his identity will be released by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office after next-of-kin have been notified.
This was at least the second instance of a bicyclist dying in a crash in San Bernardino County this week"
Always remain aware of your surroundings, assume everyone in front of you might make a stupid move at any time... I always wonder if some members that were active and suddenly fell silent died .
Highly ironic! At least he didnt get so messed up he had to have a closed casket,
