Mag Wheels

which ever you choose make sure the sprocket side for the engines drive train looks like this pictures these are the newest ones i got from mzmiami but i know the other kind like my red ones if you strip the threads on accident theres not enough side wall on the hubs near the bolt holes so if you try to tap up or put a helicoil itll just bust through the side of the hub my rear red mag is not fixable but i had the samme issue with my black ones but you can get behind the bolts and put a nut if needs on these kinds of mags just make sure you can touch the back bolt holes on them it makes fixing them easier if something goes wrong

id suggest upgradeing the bearing in anyset of mags purchased ive bought 3 pair one of each kind pretty much and no matter what the bearings will blow out their just sh*t i think my bearings were 30x9x10 steel covered japanese roller bearings got 10 for like 8 bucks they fit all my mags except the red ones from gasbike
You can't go wrong by upgrading the bearings, but I would still suggest using the method I show above unless your axle has a stop for the inner race. I have not had a single bearing failure using this method with the stock bearings. Personally I don't like the mag wheels, but some of my customers do. They just have to much flex to them. I'll take a good double wall hoop and quality spokes any day.

Gary how long is that spacer and what is the ID?
This is the fun part. Or not. I got the tubing at home depot. It comes in 3' length which was good cause I had 6 bikes with mags to build. The ID was slightly to small for the 25/64 axle so I drilled it out with a 13/32 bit. The OD is 33/64, but they probably call it 1/2 alum. tubing. Each mag I had read slightly different for the distances from the outer race stops in the hub. I made each one for the mag it was used on rather than cutting a bunch cutting them slightly large and slowly grinding to a sweet fit. I got the measurement by leaving 1 of the bearings in place and using a vernier to get the number.

Just a word about wide tires on narrow wheels:

I'm running 3-inch tires (and love them) but to get the most out of them you really want a wide rim, like 2 inches (50mm) wide. The only ones I've seen that wide are from Felt and ain't cheap. A wide tire on a narrow wheel makes a "light bulb" shape that leaves air space between the tube and the rim. Handling feels squishy. You can get away with a 40mm rim if you run higher pressure.

I don't know how wide these alloy wheels are, but I'd be real surprised if they're more than 30mm.

I've had 2 inch wide rims with 3 wide tires on old Dynos from the late 90's & early 2000's. They were easier & cheaper to get than the Felt 2 wide rims at least for the 26x2 front 24x3 rear tire setups when they used to make them, now eBay sellers charge allot more for unused originals especially for complete wheel/tire combo sets. That's why I just go with a current off the shelf 26x2 setup for both front & rear on my bike that I got from my local bike shop which works great with well built double wall rims & high quality spokes & hubs. Been going strong for about a year now with no issues even with a rag joint/hub mounted sprocket adapter that I found for $25. Wish I could use wider tires on them but the chain would be rubbing on them causing a potentially dangerous situation since I use a direct drive setup.

Update: Eric from Imperial Cycles just e-mailed me indicating that these fat tire mag wheels won't fit on my GT2-A Skyhawk frame! I'm so bummed, those would have been perfect! I could have even kept my gears on the peddle side. Oh well, it looks like the HY 22s are my only option.

Hello friends:
I'm considering getting some mag wheels for my 2 stroke GT build. When I first built it I was planning on getting a shift kit so I got a 7 speed rear hub and derailleur. I figured I could easily slap the shift kit on when I was ready to buy it, however since then I put a reed valve on which seems to give me excellent acceleration without the gears. So now I'm considering buying some mag wheels and going with a single gear on the peddle side. I've been looking at these bikeberry ones. I don't usually buy from bikeberry but I was wondering if anyone has tried these or might have any recommendations for different ones. Anything special I should look for with these things? Also, can I easily put different size sprockets on these mag wheels? I want one that can handle up to 3 inch wide tires.

The bikeberry mags aren't that bad I have a bbr tank in frame bike that comes with the bikes.
The only problem I've had is that those wheels don't work well with caliper type brakes they work great with disc brakes the caliper breaks cause the wheel to flex side to side .
Other than that I really love them no spokes to adjust very simple wheel as long as you run disc brakes
