Safety Beware the fenders!!!

My tank is always slightly loose, that way if the bike falls, it can move and not dent and leak.
My petcock is junk, but still works, and i made sure to get it sealed. Still hasnt leaked.
Just keep having trouble getting the dumb fuel line to stay seated and not leak on the carb with a very very slow leak. Every time i bump something the dern leak comes back.

good evening, i just had an issue of my bracket breaking at the 90 degree bend.
I noticed it after a 4 mile ride back and forth in Irvine CA at Quail hill.
I got lucky.
I'm doing a fix on it with some L brackets I p/u at home depot.
any advice would be nice.

Happy Riding

Zip ties. Use those to secure fenders to for instance...front fender to front fork. Rear fender to where rear brakes are. Or zip tie all brackets connecting fenders to bike. Metal will rust before zip ties fail.

Saddlebag setups behind the seats kill 2 birds with 1 stone, deflect water coming from the tire, and give you a spot to carry road kit supplies.

I tried to put a front fender on my recumbent, but on a turn it would hit the pedal, kept bending on the same crease, so when I got home it looked as pretzled as yours.

Getting rid of the fenders all together is how I do it ;)
Removing fenders in rain prone areas like Florida isn't an option. Zip tie the fenders at any point you feel it needs more support. Zip tie up and over thru fender and around fork or rear frame points already machined.
Should carry zip ties in your carry along tool bag. Ive recently added a foldable tire and spare tube to this road service kit.
Reminder. Dont forget small air pump.

Zip ties? BWAHAHAHAHA, bunch of newbs! Why not use SS nuts and bolts with nylock nuts instead?

Ha ha. They work. Nuts and bolts even come loose with the vibration eventually. Electrical 12" cable zip ties dont fail. Ever.

Been a bike tech since 1979. I own a Nishiki Pueblo that's had Mt. Zephal fenders on it since 1991, and they've not failed and killed me yet. That's 27 years of commuting use.

If you buy decent, bike shop quality fenders, and use blue Loktite on the attachment bolts into a bike with dropouts with threaded fender stay eyelets, you should never have your fenders cause issues with your bike. I don't understand why this is an problem.

The fenders most people are complaining about are the cheaper steel fenders on the Walmart cruisers, which come assembled with not as much care as a LBS bike. But even those bikes can be fitted with better fenders, it just takes more hardware and the knowledge to install them correctly.

it's because people don't pay attention to the wear and tear on their fenders, they don't make sure they're secure, and when this happens you have a fender fly off either wheel and it'll cause you to wreck because it gets under the tire.
fenders are the least of my worries as you've seen in my previous posts about I probably need to give my carburetor a good cleaning
