Well for the 1st time in 12 years I have no gas powered bike/s. Sold my last one and am going electric. This will be my new ride. I've learned to never say never so we'll see what the future holds. No regrets at all w/owning gas bikes, lost some $$, broke even on others. Fun hobby and it will remain my main squeeze for fun. I love riding the trail system we have here and gas bikes bother too many folks, plus it's illegal to ride motorized vehicles on them. I've just been lucky so far. W/electric there will be no worries, so that's where I'm at. https://www.juicedbikes.com/collections/e-bikes/products/crosscurrent-x

Hey I love your enthusiasm but when you ride that bike in pouring down rain and it still rides and runs. Let me know LOL

What's with this misconception about rain? I build both gas and electric bikes regular peddal bikes aswell. Most current ebikes can run in any weather conditions,I live in the great white north (Canada) and have a home built ebike for ridding two up (with passenger) that runs better in the rain due to the added cooling. Many folks here ride their ebike's all winter as well as all summer rain, snow, sleet or shine makes no difference you just dress for it!These hub motor ebikes are not effected by water the motor is brushless three phaze ac that the controler converts the dc current,The batteries are sealed and again water has no effect on them anyway. The only thing that you don't want to get wet is the controler more percisely the board and fet's,most good ones are potted now on the board and can take some moisture without failing,So your misconception is really frustrating to keep seeing on here!

Ok. I'm talking pouring down rain. I'm in south Florida. We have two different weather climates. How far can you travel on a single charge. Trust me. Its neat to think about electric bikes. I'm an electrician but I just don't see the hurray yippee it's electric or the enthusiasm of it.

Distance is dependent on the battery amp hours used,My current setup get's 4.5 kilometers per ah and I use 23ah batteries so around 64 miles per charge. That 64 miles cost me all of 8 cents and that's where the wow factor is!

For comparison, a gas engine would take you that same 64 miles for $1.41

You can ride 32 miles from home before you have to turn around, or bring a charger with you and go the whole 64. That seems like plenty of range to me.

The thing I don't like about e-bikes is that they don't deliver the full motorcycle feel. No noise or vibration, no exhaust smell. I realize that these are all a plus, just not for me. For a tool to get from A to B, there's nothing wrong with an e-bike.

I like my ebike because it is silent, immediate torque, and maintenance free. You cannot ride a motorized bike in operation (ebike included) on trails here but really no one knows because it is silent and I keep my speeds down. Can't do that with a gas bike. The silence is nice because it allows me to listen to audiobooks or music to block out the wind (legal to do this here). The range is the biggest thing; I just got (not mounted yet) an additional 600 Wh so I am at 1.2 kWh which should take me near full power 50 miles. As in another thread, eventually I want to try to attach a small generator as a backup. I want to hit the 3 kWH club but first the 2 kWh.

@darwin I think you can still make and sell bikes. If you like your CrossCurrent, look into making and servicing ebikes in your area for a competitive price if you can find good cheap cells. I think lots of people are still new to ebikes and interested. The price tag for retail bikes is still too high IMO and that gives local builders an edge. My current ebike is a 500W 20mph ebike so its slow but reliable. I am going to eventually sell it off to make a 1500W+ bike but not before turning it into a Kawasaki Ninja homage (painted battery box, lights, front wind guard, decals) etc.

I think a powerful ebike is similar to a motorcycle but closer to that feeling you have when your plane is about to take off. That immediate punch and gritting your teeth. I think this guy is related to this forum some how but his bike is insane and I love the video details with the power (W), voltage, and regen levels. Tell me this is not fun.

I never made these bikes to sell for profit. I just used them to enjoy then when tired of the bike sell it and build another. I did build 3 for people who payed me but to me it was just fun. 2 were DWI bikes for dudes with no DL and 1 was for a senior who couldn't pedal very far on his own. They hit me up I didn't solicit their bizz. Anyways I've always wanted an E-bike but the battery tech wasn't there yet to go reliably for 50 miles or so. It's here now so it was my time to buy one. It's mostly for riding the trails, we have wonderful trails here in Denver, probably hundreds of miles and a lot interconnect. I just want to be legal and not annoy folks or the police, it is illegal after all to use gas bikes on the trails. This new bike has a 110 mile range per charge if doing 10mph and no assist. I'll be heading home long before that happens. If needed a spare 13ah batt is available for $599 so the range is no problem finally. Another reason now is the right time is the batt tech is where they're good for a 1000 charges or so. That's a lot of riding to get your moneys worth out of the bike.

I've seen Scotto's early videos when I first got into motor bikes. I am not sure how much improved since like 3-4 years ago. But, can it really compete against a 75MPH instant torque ebike... I mean yes riding skill is important but if they are both equal is this a fair match. Unless, he is pushing 26HP on the 212...
