Help! I went to ride my bike and thought i had a slipping clutch because it would rev fine but as soon as i engage the clutch the motor would sort of pull but then would just sort of sit there
I took the clutch cover of and the clutch plate was perfect on the pads but the big gear would spin even with the clutch lever out(clutch engaged). What happened here!? is it the clutch push rod as with the clutch lever out i can move the chain.

Here's a pretty decent video on adjusting your clutch.
It sounds to me like you need to adjust your flower nut to put more tension against the clutch plate.
Make sure you have the 1/8" movement when you operate it my hand as shown near the end of the video.
(I'm assuming you've already tried operating it by hand and ruled out any problem with the cable just being out of adjustment? Be sure there is virtually no play in the lever arm on the engine. It should be adjusted so that the cable is immediately causing travel of the clutch mechanism.)
Also, your pads may be worn, so go ahead and remove the clutch plate as shown in the video and be sure your pads are good.

That’s what i thought but the gear that the clutch pads are on moves even when i have the flower nut tightened all the way
