Something is wrong with the clutch. When I put the ball bearing in, then the bucking bar, the sprocket cover with clutch arm does not fit. The bucking bar is sticking out too far. The clutch is off and I can't figure out wtf is wrong. I haven't split the cases yet so nothing inside has been touched.

here's a video explaining.

Make sure the clutch arm is in the right position when you mount the plate on the engine, it will stop the bar from going all the way into the clutch plate hole. You can try turning the engine clutch side up and tap on it with something and make sure there's not 2 balls in there, or cut the bar down to the length you need. They are all the same size I think. If I'm wrong, someone here will chime in . (carry on)

clutch worked fine yesterday when I took it apart

I haven't split the cases so nothing should have changed. I don't understand why the bucking bar is so far out. I can't even get the sprocket cover on with no clutch arm, that's how far out this stupid bar is

basically. it never ran correctly so I was going to tear it down and rebuild it with new seals because there was a constant air leak..

now my progress is halted because of this stupid clutch.

You know the clutch shaft itself is adjustable there's basically a spring with 2 collars on each end and it's threaded try messing with that. These ht engines are a pain and I'm ready to start running centrifugal clutch motors with belt and friction drive. No weird air leaks, no chinsy manual clutches the list goes on just hit the gas and go. My engine has a similar issue where it won't take throttle good and takes a while to idle down. Plan is fix up the bike and sell it and start building different setups.

Sounds like the flower nut is too far out. How much separation (of clutch plate from pads) was there when you operated the clutch? There should be 1mm or 2mm at the very most.. Any more than that and the bar sticks out too far.
Screw in the flower nut until you get the sprocket cover back on then adjust as necessary. :)

Or did you take the flower nut off entirely? :coffee:;)
