My bicycle axel just lock up as I pulled in to have some coffee, the pedals move when the tire turns meaning if I try to go 25 MPH those pedals are going to beat the s**t out of my shins or legs and I went to the hospital a few weeks ago for shin pedal beat.

How do I free up the sprocket?

If your lucky your bearing cup came unlocked and tightened against your freewheel. You'll more than likely have to back that off and re lock it against it's lock nut. Myself, I'd completely remove the entire rear wheel, completely dissemble and clean the entire hub before filling with new grease and reassembly and bearing tension adjustment but that's just me...

If that goddamn sprocket locks up on me by surprise when I'm going down the street 25 MPH it's gonna amputate my legs off!
Ever thought of this endangerment?
Thing is freeing then lovking up.

I got a little bit of wobble in the sprocket I don't have a sprocket puller to get it off I'm thinking of REI that's where I bought the sprocket they installed the it.
Man amputation sounds worst than any snake bite can't come to grips with the reality of danger!

Yes it will be a pain if your pedal whacks you in the calf when you're motoring along. You have to remove your freewheel using the appropriate type of freewheel removal tool (there are several types) to service your wheel hub bearings. This is vital bicycle maintenance.
This is a bicycle maintenance question. Why does no one post in the appropriate forum section anymore. . Smh 🥺

I took it down to REI had it relaplaced for $25.00.
Which still worries me because I had them replace the old one about a year ago it should last 20 years I think.

There is no way back into the socket unless you have a press the problem laid inside they said it was a tracer or tracker problem they won't lay down they come back up to lock.

I remember when I was about 4 years old a guy coming down the street on a motor bike his broken legs doing 360° they both blew off next he crash into a car. I ask him didn't you know?
He said no I don't what the s**t was happening.

But I'll tell ya the pedal throw is extremely violent if you don't raise your legs and stop then gonna be hurt real bad.

I hate those rims. unlike a conventional, spoked rim,... you hit ONE big bump or deep hole,..that thing will crack. --and then it is only worth $2.75 at the scrap recycler. another drawback is that if they pickup a wobble,.... it's there for life.

I wish you luck, my man.

Another drawback is a dope up slummy looking REI Mechanic who may of deliberately cross threaded and strip out my threads made the rim useless unless you or someone else knows of another smaller sprocket I could tap and dye to get fix.

Rotten dope up bastard it was his first day on the job never seen the creep before, some hidden payback of the store.
