I’ve had a staton kit ,robin Subaru 35cc friction. For over 15 years runs like a champ. Thousands of miles. I run synthetic oil in it . And put a little Lucas or mmystery in the gas always 🔥 right up. I want to get a Honda 49 cc next

I have nothing but praise for this company. They keep me on the road.
I must update my review. But they still are the place to buy quality from.
This is the 2nd Friction Drive Kit I have purchased from them.
Ok here is the problem. ( I'm NOT a whiney little baby) on the motor mount itself. the two top bolt holes of the 4 holes to mount the motor to the motor mount are too close to get a socket on them. Even a ground down socket won't fit in there. I have had other kits that had enough room on them. When I got the first one I called them and they said it should. Now I asked BEFORE I purchased the second and was told yes a socket would fit . IT WONT!
NOW . IF THEY COULD JUST MOVE THE HOLES A SMIDGE. ( A smidge is more than a skosh but less than nudge)
I understand the fix to this machining could possibly be a big pain in the as s, but bearing change pitstops would be back up to NASCAR standards. Ok I'm done Whining.
Serious now. Could people tell me where they think the best bearings can be purchased. Just kind of a poll.
Thanks for putting up with me.
LARRY.
I just had my first bike stolen 2 hours after I put a brand new GX35 on it. Thank God The 50 was still being mailed. Or instead off whining I would be in a full blown tantrum. And would probably need a time out.
At a bar.

I had that issue.

Change the mounting bolts to socket head.

As far as bearings, no need to buy expensive bearings.

The solution is to convert the PRESS-FIT bearing fit to SLIP-FIT.
Before installing bearings, ream the bearings' mounting holes slowly with sandpaper, until the new bearings slip in with a little resistance.
Also, lightly sand the shaft on the friction rollers, until they slip into the bearings.
If you don't sand the 1.5" rollers, you'll never be able to remove the roller from the drive housing without a press.

Then you can buy cheap bearings and replace them every few hundred miles.
ANNND, you can change the outer bearing without removing the engine or the friction drive housing from the bike!

Do this, and you'll sleep well.

The secret to those 2 top bolts is to use an open end and turn the bolt an 1/8th of a turn at a time, each time using 1 angle of the wrench then the other angle with each stroke. Staton does sell an upgraded bearing if wanted. Order them individually or request them when buying the kit to be installed by Staton. Also before mounting the motor chase all 4 mounting bolt threads with the bolt your going to use to make it easier to finger tighten all 4 mounting bolts when finger tightening them when mounting the motor.

Boogers will not work @darwin

This is the 4th week I been told it was going to ship Tuesday. I paid for 2-3 day shipping. I would be fine if they would give me a date instead of just keep telling me next Tuesday and it isn't. I tried to call today, have sent a few email. This is the first time he hasn't answered his phone. I was very much looking forward to one of the best rates kit out there. I even ordered with gx50. Well see how Gettimg back my money goes. Hate to leave a bad review, but told my kids why he told me. I've seen them disappointed too long now. I'll be ordering from another company

With the Virus going around it has slowed many things down; especially if David had to get stuff from China. I ordered 9mm external snap rings from eBay which came from China and they took 10 weeks to get here. Pre virus days it'd only took about 3 weeks or less. I'm sure David is only passing on the mis information which is being given to him. I've had my Staton kit for 10 years now with very few problems; you'll find the wait was worth it in the end.

Appropriate size socket and a whack from a 2lb hammer should knock the bearing to the inside.
