Hello everybody

I have a pav3 with staton gearbox with a Honda gx50 strapped to it. Along with a 1000 watt electric wheel on the front. Great ride stable at 25mph do not really need to go faster than that .(It will go faster). So my next project is for the wife same trike Pav3. Only problem is it takes 6 or 7 months to get a gearbox out of staton. So i am going to try something else on this trike. Was thinking of getting one of these HuaSheng or a honda clone 4 stroke 49CC and a belt drive transmission I can fit all this up under the seat. I would rather do it this way instead of putting it in the basket, the problem I am seeing is I do not have the room for the large sprocket that needs to be on the axle inn the rear. Maybe throw in a jack shaft and put the large sprocket on that? Any suggestions would be appreciated. these are pics of the first Pav3 I built

The second pav3 it does have a 3 speed hub with coaster break, there is a spot to weld on a sprocket there, I could get a seven inch diameter sprocket on the hub. Can I use the 3 speed hub as part of the gearing ? maybe I will not have to have such a big sprocket if that will work. the poles on the front are dog leashes

On the first trike I went from from the staton gear box straight to a freewheel adapter with a small sprocket on the axle. from what I can tell on the other transmissions out there I can not get the same ratios that I get out of the stanton . That's why i am thinking I would need the large sprocket. The trike has 24" in the back and 20 inch in the front

That has to be the cleanest, most original, beautiful install I've ever seen on a trike. Well done, if that is a GX35 powering that have you considered the GX50 for it? Almost double the hp.

Both engines are around the same 2hp. It's hard to find just the engine and transmission most kits come with all the other junk parts. Replacement engines alone seem to be more money gasbike or bikeberry. I have an ebay 49cc and it looks exactly the same as the stickered clones they run $160-$200 there are 4 or more transmission styles however single chain, double chain, straight shaft belt, tapered shaft belt and maybe some others. Tapered shaft belt drive has to be one of the best since the clutch is attached to a sealed bearing. I love my huasheng clone on a huffy nel lusso. Just the right amount of power. What don't you like about the GX50? is it the gearing? it is less weight than the GXH50 clones. The gearbox can add some weight though. Seeing the 3 or so beefy gears inside the oil filled gearbox could probably withstand close to 10hp. (Edit) I see you are planning on building another trike, it could work a few extra parts to mount it and cheaper than staton for basically the same thing (power anyways). I see 3 or 4 sprockets it will be tricky trying to calculate that but there is alot of guys on here that know how to do it. The simple answer trying to reduce the amount of sprockets just going to a single shaft mounted 44 tooth. The more friction the more power losses. Does it have rear disc as well as a coaster brake? If that is a 160 mm rotor you are limited by clearance to that red bar for axle mounted sprocket size. Don't know if even a 40 tooth would clear.

Worksman Cycles makes the Pav3 Trike. New it sells for about $1,000

I have the GX50 on one trike love it . Its just a little pricy. Thought I would try something Different . I found a real GX35 on Amazon for 150.00. With the staton gear box I go straight to the axle with a 20 tooth sprocket works great. Using another type transmission I would have to go with a larger sprocket. The larger sprocket just will not fit. Yes it has a coaster brake has a 3 speed hub. I installed a disc brake on front and will put one on the back when I get it apart. Thanks for the comments

You think I can use the 3sp Hub that is installed now , I can weld on a sprocket to the Hub and use it like a jack shaft?
