Hi all, its been a while since I've built a 2 stroke. When I did my first build in 2010, Skyhawks, Flying Horse and generic HT engines were the engines of choice. The list of mods that I had to do to get the bike running efficiently was extensive (new post mounts/hardware, sand intake and exhaust ports, port open the manifold, upgrade gaskets, change the chain, sand the sprocket, upgrade the sparkplug, add a gas filter, etc etc). I've been thinking about doing a new build and was wondering if all these mods are still the standard or has quality improved on certain brands where I can do a true one day build and feel good about it. I saw that Bike Berry no longer carries the skyhawk or flying horse brands and has their own BBR house brand. Are they any good? I'm basically asking for advice on a solid 66/80cc engine brand that doesn't need a ton of extra work. Thanks and cheers.

Edit: On second inspection, it looks like flying horse had a name change to BBR or something similar.

Hi all, its been a while since I've built a 2 stroke.
Ive had both Flying Horse as well as Seeutec motors...Mediocre at best...I have to say the Seeutec was better than the flying Horse...Still got the Seeutec sitting on a shelf with 6000 miles on it...Than i got the Zeda 80...Blew the others right out of the water OOTB.

I have not cracked open the engine at all to do all the things you have mentioned..Yes, its another China Girl, just better built....I have almost 900 miles on it now since May of 2020 till now, 14 months later.

Here is where i got it....i always use their phone number to order anything...(406) 586-5970.

Here is the technical manual to compare PK80 and GT5 motors against the Zeda 80...And the motor installation manual...Its my motor of choice for OOTB...DAMIEN

Ps...I think BBR only stands for BikeBerry Racing...im pretty sure its still a Flying Horse in disguise is all...Just BikeBerry's own branding...lol.

I'd say you were an agent for Zeda but honestly people just keep asking lol.
They ask, i tell...lol...as you've known from my time here now of just about a year now on the 23rd of this month, i have had nothing but good to say about this motor and this set up...lol...it really has been this good, this trouble free...at least for me...lol...DAMIEN

Thanks for the response, good info. I've seen some of your other posts on the Zeda. Any particular reason you went Zeda80 over zeda100? My current situation doesn't give me as much working space (or time) as I had back when I first did my build so good to know you didn't have to take the thing apart to get it going reliably

YES...The Zeda 80 has a ceramic lining in the cylinder the 100 does not...The ceramic liner is really great for extra heat dissipation meaning less wear and tear on those components...Somewhat akin to the space shuttle ceramic heat shields used for re-entry...DAMIEN

Ceramic kicks ass. When I built my 650@rw Skyline engine, I had pretty much all the essential parts (turbo housings, intercooler piping, exhaust manifold etc) ceramic coated and it made a HUGE difference in performance it was worth every cent even tho it wasn't cheap....ceramic coating has tremendous heat controlling and lubricanting properties....so having a Ceramic lining in the cylinder ? BONUS !!

Bought the Zeda 80. Thanks for the suggestion. As I'm going though the decision making of how I want to build this I'm remembering how much work this build took, how many decisions there are to make, and how much easier it is to just build it the way I want the first time and not have to drain the tank or disassemble the bike to change one part... Which bike, tire size, skewer or fixed axle, vibration reduction, sprocket sizing, mounting for wide frames, (is shaking the gas can with coins still a thing?), and all the upgrades. Good times. Will keep ya'll posted

That was me in May of 2020 when i first built my little beastie...doing it right the first time has really paid off for me. the right tires, innertubes, rims, disk brake set, eliminating the tensioner, not using the front motor mount in the kit and making my own, making my own rear disk mount to the frame attachment to accomodate stock caliper adaptor, choosing the 36 tooth sprocket, etc. and the list goes on and on...lol...DAMIEN

I hear ya. two more questions for you @DAMIEN1307. Is the Zeda 80 a single piece cylinder/head or can I toss a performance head on. 2nd question is do you know the center to center spacing on the front mount studs? Looking at Bike Berry's CNC front mount and there was a comment on there saying it doesn't work with front studs 48mm+. Doing a parts order for things I know i'll want to have on hand when I build and was hoping you may have some info.
