Evil minds never rest... I am building a forced air ram unit for my carb.

You guys are as funny as a big gob of hair stuck in a drain... I plumb had a sinking feeling you were going to drain this topic of puns.
Just couldn't resist...I Didn't want to pass up another "crappy" opportunity...lol...Just had to "flush" it out of my system...lol...You can count on me to always "plunge" to depths never "plumbed" by others...lol...DAMIEN

Ps....Ahhhhh, relief...Im totally "drained" now...lol.

 
Ok this is what I learned through many hours of tinkering and experimenting.

It doesnt take much air deflection to positively effect the top end or w.o.t. smoothness.

I used to have that "bratt bratt" or sputter at top speed and have tried many different ways of ramming air into the carb. Computer fans attatched to the 6volt accessory coil, p.v.c.narrowed or funneled down elbows ect...

And the best thing I found was a pvc sink trap cut just after the turn with just an open end. No graduation. It seems to me that because of the placement of the carb it sets in a place that already is in great turbulence and is oxygen starved and its fighting to breathe.

All there really needs to be is constant supply or stream of air.

I went from topping out at 39 to 40 mph with a stutter to 45 mph running smooth as a bumble bee with just the pvc sink trap. The trick is to mount it in a spot that doesnt interfere with low rpm velocities.

I no longer need to re jet my carb either. It runs that smooth. I am amazed at the difference in the acceleration. It gets up to top speed more quickly and smoothly .

This is definitely something to play with if you are getting wot sputter. Of course it wont work for everyone but its something to definitely consider. I got 6+ mph so...

Sounds like you need to drop the needle down or go down one jet size.
