Hi, a quick intro. I'm a new member from CA who thought it'd be a good idea to motorize his bike since gas is expensive and he doesn't have a DL.

I got a stanton gx50 FDR kit about a month ago and I recently started to assemble it since there was a lul in my uni activities. Unfortunately, I have been driven mad by the damn U bracket because I can't mount it. The nut that threads onto the bolt which holds the u bracket to the bike frame doesn't go in all the way and I can figure out for the life of me how to thread it in all the way. I've read the instructions and tried to youtube it, but besides the lack of info all the info I get online just glazes over this fact like it should be extremely easy and self-explanatory.

Keep in mind, I haven't even actually put the metal channel on the bracket yet, and literally all that's keeping me from riding is the damn nut that wont thread. Any help on how this is solved would be appreciated.

In the State of Californication you are required to have a valid drivers license with m1 or m2 endorsement to legally operate a motorised bicycle that is propelled by a gasoline powered motor.

You DO NOT NEED, nor are you required however, to have a valid drivers license to operate an electric bicycle...You may just want to rethink this especially in a UNI environment where cops abound and are eager to bust college students for almost any infraction...I should know, I used to be a cop...lol...DAMIEN

Ps...There is a registration and plate requirement of some sort for the gas powered bikes in Californication land as well.

Cant really figure out what your describing, whats wrong with the U blot and nut

If somethings wrong with the threads go to the hardware store and buy another u bolt.

If the nut runs out of threads and ya cant get the U bolt tight use some washers

Some kits come with a U-bolt bracket to attach to the seat post tube, some kits come with a flat Uchannel to attach to the rear brake rim holder or near it. It depends on the bike frame geometry and how it will be installed. I always try to use the rear brake mount to use the center hole of the flat Uchannel so it's squarely centered and easy to mount. If using a Ubolt you just need the right length and size to fit your frame seat tube. In the pic you see the little cross member near the seat tube usually there is a hole in that tube to attach the flat uchannel and it is the best way to mount it. Remember you can get that uchannel with different length legs for proper fit or extensions that are flat to extend the reach of the legs.

Are the threads the same? Are you mixing sae with metrics? These motors are metric.

Thanks for the answers guys. I did manage to get it all together. I've never used loctite and I didn't realize that they had it. My only question is how do you connect the killswitch to the engine?

I'm also encountering some problems with the engine now. The engine idles too high and the engine will run furiously even if I apply NO force on the throttle. If you close the choke it will barely run and when open it will just shut off. I have NO clue what's going on.

Make sure the throttle cable has no sharp bends, make sure the cable housing is inserted all the way into the barrel ends. Mount your kill switch where it fits out of the way using the 2 wires attached to the 2 wires coming out of the motor. See where I mounted mine on the eyelet on the left seat stay near the seat.

Just realized the honda gx50 has only 1 kill wire from the motor and switch, grounds through the frame. Same install though.

Also prime the fuel lines by using the primer bulb, it's a honda should run great.
