I broke my piston rings the other day, and the news arrived just this morning. I put them on correctly, slid on the cylinder, the piston gets stuck at tdc. it’s so weird, if i loosen the top head bolts, it works fine, as soon as I add compression it just gets stuck. When it gets stuck if I keep trying to move it it won’t go at all, if I roll the bike back and push it with some momentum, it the piston moves up and down really quickly. But still with a clinging noise.

I have a 2 stroke 80cc engine.

You got a low hole piston on a high hole rod.

i think the pistons hitting the head, theres nothing obstructing the cylinder or anything. it has to be hitting the head

Silly question... Did you put the base gasket & head gasket back on ?.

my head gasket yes, but before i noticed the base gasket id kind of broken, so i made some more out of cardboard to lift the cylinder up, but im getting the same result.... the piston wont move past TDC.

OK, 1 last try at guessing what went wrong...... Is the cardboard gasket the same thickness as the original gasket ?.
