I got a new head from CDHPower. It's their cast, high compression head. It is massive compared to a stock, angle fire head. The sealing surface is pretty ruff. I will lap it smooth and shiny. The squish bevel isn't machined like the stock head. It's difficult to compare the combustion chambers, but a before and after compression test may prove if this really does increase the compression. The copper head gasket is .020" (0.5mm) thick. I'm thinking that the squish will be way over .030" using the copper gasket. I couldn't find my aluminum head gasket to measure and compare. Anyone know how thick a stock aluminum head gasket is?

I'll say one thing ;the chamber in your cdh head looks a lot nicer than the 2 I've had.

I got aluminum head gaskets in .027" .033" & .043" also have that head. Theres so many different head gasket thicknesses to list, but with that head I'm running a .038"-.043" head gasket.

I didn't know there are so many choices of gasket thicknesses. Do you buy the sheet stock and make your own? A squish measurement will determine what I need.

Yes I have made my own, till i found the correct thickness of head gasket i needed. I ended up needing a .040"head gasket for a squish of .028" that's where it ran the best.

Searching for copper sheet to make head gaskets, I stumbled on an article about the importance of annealing a copper head gasket (new or used). The copper gasket I bought is stiff and springy. The idea of annealing is to soften the copper so it will seat and seal the head better. I am having a little trouble finding a good supplier of small copper sheets in various thicknesses. Any suggestions?

My cdh pk80 iron sleeve came with an aluminum gasket that measures 1.5mm. That's pretty thick. I put a . 52mm copper in its place.
Other aluminum ones I have are .76-1mm.

Are you able to order gaskets in different thicknesses? I have not seen choices offered, or thicknesses listed in product descriptions.

Hobby lobby is a good place to buy copper sheets of different thicknesses, that's where I get my copper sheet. Michaels is another good place, theres a couple other places. Most arts & craft stores will have it. Yes most people dont know you must anneal your copper head gaskets prior to use for best results/sealing.
