Side to side crank slack ( wrong term?)

Copper or brass shims behind the bearings will take up the slack, I was planning on tearing mine back down but since it runs so good I'll wait till something happens.
The technical term for it is a thrust washer, and they're usually made from bearing stock. Kind of like shells for a motor car.
 
Right, couldn't think of it! The cases need a lip to seat the bearing against. Mine doesn't have a lip, probably the reason the mag side seal came out, if the seal comes out again I'll move the bearing back and center punch a couple of places in the case to prevent outward movement.
 
I can push and pull my magnet like that. I've been beating the hell out of my engine, including pumping nitro into it, but nothing bad has happened yet.
 
Yep that's the way to correct the crank end play
I made my own .016" copper shims for my Whizzer M/B

Crankshaft end play tolerances should be .003" - .006"
The CG 2 stroke will probably run fine with as much as 1mm = .040" crank end play because the crank will float to center.
Correcting the crank end play tolerances will make the engine run smother and last long.
 
I've seen many like that and a bit worse that still ran. As for floating to center with excess end play unfortunately not because the beveled gear on the drive/clutch side pushes the crank toward the magneto side and this is why this is the most common seal to have issues with.
I see. After tapping it in and throwing it together, as soon as pressure makes that bevel gear thrust left, the mag side seal pops out.

Ive though the same thing about the small gear, if mine starts giving problems I'll take it down.
 
A couple of people have posted pictures of their updated engines with a plate bolted on behind the magnet to keep the seal in place. Mine doesn't have a plate, it is a grubee 2010 gt2b. I may make a plate for it, it shouldn't be that hard.
