E-85=increased power

NASCAR uses E15, Sunoco Green E15.

In Australia e85 is the preferred fuel in the race scene, sprint cars use it. Its been the fuel of choice for IndyCar racing since 2012.

E85 is race proven, daily. Its because it's the better fuel. If it hurt their motors do you really think they would be using it???

Its really a no brainer. Just get all that old hooey out about it being bad. It used to be bad to rev an engine over 6 grand too, but man has overcome that, ethanol is no different. Problems came up decades ago, they've since fixed it. That's why theres a huge push to go to countrywide e15 from e10.

Studies keep proving ethanol is harmless. The real evidence is that race teams DO use it because it IS better. Been using it awhile now actually.

I'm open minded, if someone has genuine evidence of the harm from e85, I would really like to see it. It would be an educational experience. I've never seen any though. Talk is cheap. Show me. I can show that its harmless.

I think everyone is done trying to help ya
Why don't you burn E-85 in your 2 stroke. It will be your educational experience

Here in my town a Shell station has started selling 100% gas. The foreign owned station claimed they had a 100% gas pump but it looked like oil and vinegar salad dressing. Before the Shell station started 100% gas all that was available was 10% ethanol. Because of this I commonly had to clean the jets on my 2 and 4 stroke small engines' carbs and on friends and family small engines at least once a year due to ethanol breakdown clogging them.

E85 is used by race teams everyday. It's a proven fuel. They use it because it's better. If gas were better, they would use gas. Ethanol runs cooler and does zero damage.

Please stop comparing 4 stroke race cars with high tech motors worth hundreds of thousands invested in them and built for a specific purpose, with very cheaply made 2 stroke Chinese built motors with absolutely zero quality control...Its like comparing apples with donuts...It is a totally ludricrous comparison...DAMIEN

Ps...E-85 does do all sorts of damage to cheap Chinese little 2 strokers but your just gonna have to experience it for yourself, so i for one will enthusiastically encourage you to do so.

I'm not totally disagreeing with you. However, I'm sure none of us here have a $500,000 engine either. These race teams generally rebuild those engines after every race as well.

I personally believe the reason small engines aren't being developed for E85 or E90 is they want small engines to have a shorter life so people will be more willing to convert to electrics.

Those teams run what is supplied and use it all up in one day, rebuild with fresh seals and bearings for the next race. Please feel free to run what you like.

This was not originally created as a place for debating the better fuel. Old timers used to think synthetic oil was bad too.

The 72 jet was certainly too lean. I had to get a micro drill and drill an extra jet to a size 80 jet. This made it run like a champ.

Ethanol has more liquid oxygen than any other fuel besides nitrometh,. E85 is about 30% oxygen, the highest oxygenated gas might hit less than half that, 10-15% max. Nitrometh has just over 50%.

This extra oxygen helps tremendously with making power. It's why race teams use it.

The bad is just hear-say. It actually let's everyone around you know just how uninformed you are.

There is zero evidence of e85 being harmful. Its just not there. It used to be, back in the 60s and 70s.

We dont use those types of rubbers and whatnot anymore.

This thread is for those who are taking that step to run ethanol and my experience with it. Oil companies spit out alot of hooey about it being harmful in their own interests.

What racing fuel does NASCAR use?

The specialized NASCAR fuel is Sunoco Green E15, a 98 octane, unleaded fuel blend specifically engineered for high-performance engines and race cars. It's called Green E15 because the racing fuel is actually green in color.

So this is not what you will get out of the pump at your local station! As stated above Nascar teams rebuild the engines after every day of use.

Will E85 hurt my engine?

Ethanol has a corrosive action on fuel-system components, magnesium, aluminium and rubber. Running E85 on older model engines without tuning and replacing some components will ruin the engine in short time. Replacing fuel hoses, fuel pumps, gaskets, seals, fuel filters, fuel injectors, throttle bodies, etc.Mar 6, 2018

What it leaves inside of the carbs is a varnish like residue. This residue is what clogs up the jets.

In a 4 stroke and there isn't any oil to blame the varnish residue on. Looks very similar to what happens when a gas tank gets sugared.

However, I've had this occur in my 2 stroke weed eater carb also with E90. When I run a 100% gas the jets always stay clean and yes I use fuel filters on all of my engines along with regular air filter cleanings.
