Does anyone know if there is a vendor who still has the for real 85mm rod 40mm stroke PK80 geometry engines or ar least the crankshafts?

I have searched on here and didn't find where anyone else had ask this question so I wanted to put it out here.

I know the new comers to the hobby wont likely know what Im talking about, but I know there are others still here that do and Id like to know it these older style engines or at least the crankshafts for them are still available.

I see Zeda type triple 40 engines and the "Half Breed" type engines being called PK80s but Im wondering if there are atill any available that fall between these which are 40mm stroke bur use the low pin position piston.

Thanks, Shan

I believe this just might be what you are looking for...DAMIEN

Ps...Trying to obtain any of these right now is next to impossible due to disruption of world wide distribution systems still being blamed on pandemic, politics, labour shortages etc...lol.

Thank you sir, I will check this link out.

Id love to even find a cpuple of the 40mm stroke cranks that have the 85mm rod.

I actually have two of the Zeda80 type engines new in the box that I plan to tey out, I haven't tinkered with that geometey yet, who knows I might like them just as much or more...lol

I definitely like the 8mm mounting studs... that upgrade was a long time coming and believe me since my firat build back in 2009 I have had a good amount of the smaller 6mm studs fail until I started upgrading them and using blue loctite on them.

Yep thats the engines I was speaking of... and yeah I figure this "Plandemic"mess has had a big impact of the supply of engines and parts the last couple of years.

Honestly not looking for them to take their foot off the gas so it probably aint gonna get much better anytime soon if ever . LOL

Why not just push the pin out of a crank and put the rod you want in it? Takes all of 5 mins to to do. If you build a stand and have feelers, you can true the crank to your standards. Or just build a circle jig with a rod hole slot, and it will be close enough for our purposes. Unless you are racing, then I would suggest the truing stand and feelers over a pipe jig.

That seems that it might be possible if I could find an 85mm length rod since the zeda engine also uses a 40mm stroke crank.

The true PK80 engine uses an 85mm length rod with a low pin position piston.

The Zeda80 and the GT5 Grubee type uses an 89mm rod length with high pin piston, but I believe the crank pin position is different which gives the zeda80 type the 40mm stroke is has.

There is also a geometry we used to call the "Half Breed" type which has an 85mm rod marked ZAE50 and also uses the low pin piston but it has a unique crankshaft that has thicker counter balances and the pin position is different. I have 2 or 3 of these engines.

I really do want to have to asseemvle cranks to get a true PK80 setup, but at some point I might do that if I can find some 85mm rods and I can find out if the zeda80 engines use a crank that has same specs as the PK80 engines.

Here is an older video that Fred Clemenski made about the subject several years ago before the Zeda80 "triple forty" type engines came about.

I've seen that before. Been at this for years. Just started making performance builds last year though. I build one special bike a year for myself. Last years was a nitropropane breathing steel sleeve. She pulls like a bull.

Just figured it would be easier to just swap some stuff around if you find the parts, than trying to hunt the crank down.

Yeah I've been messing around in this hobby since 2009 myself, but have taken some time off for persobal reasons a couple of times and even now I dont have the time Id like to have to fet back into the hobby as much as I once was, but Im hoping to be able to get my older bikes up and going again soon and to also do some upgrades to a couple of them as well as build my wife her own bike, I bought a couple of the Zeda80 type engine kits this last year whivh I plan to give a try for the first time once I do some mods to them. Heck if they perform the way I want them too, I likely wont be concerned much with finding the true PK80 stuff since the triple 40 engines and parts are so easy to get right now at least...LOL

Have you checked ebay for the rod?

I find almost everything I need on ebay, and build the rest as needed.
