Phatmoto AT Engine Options

Well something I didn't take into account was the weight of the engine....I just weighed the Lifan 79cc engine and it weighs 20.8 lbs without any oil in it.

The Honda GX100 weighs 23.4 lbs.

I am not so sure I am going to be replacing the Lifan any time soon.

Next step is to look into the Yamaha KT100 and see whether I can get enough gear reduction between the engine and the rear wheel to make it feasible. The KT100 is supposed to weigh 21 lbs and then I need to add a clutch.

2 strokes don't look feasible since I can't get enough gear reduction between the engine and the rear wheel i.e. it will go tooo fast for me :).

I was leaning towards one of the Honda GX engines but it looks like everything requires some modification for the engine and/or the bike.

Still haven't completely finished looking into the Briggs and Stratton LO206/Animal engine but it looks like it has a lot of potential :).

Just bought a Honda GS 190 engine...hopefully it is going to fit in my Phatmoto AT :).

I want to use a 30 series torque converter and it is rated for 3-7 hp which ruled out the 212cc engines plus I am also trying to keep the weight of my Phatmoto AT as low as possible so I can pick it up and put it in the back of my F-250 by myself....it should weigh 94 lbs with the new engine installed :).

Easy way to check the overall weight of your Phatmoto...get a set of bathroom scales and record the weight with only the front wheel on the scales, then record the weight with only the rear wheel on the scales, then add them together and you have the total weight of the bike :).

I just stepped on the scale then picked up my bike. Subtracted my weight to get my bikes weight

I did that but my scale started flashing triple "0".
Really, maybe your scale has a limit. Pick up your bike then step on the scale

I guess ya gotta weigh it the other way,

My Whizzer weighs 165 lbs

Lol you must be strong as a ox still, in my old age idk if I could dead lift 165 pounds anymore or not. But I know my 4 stroke bike is well over a 100 pounds thou.

It's been 15 years since I weighed her
Maybe I weighed her on the center stand, but in my mind I lifted her up :ROFLMAO:
