Should I buy this moped?

The factory Ltd and night hawk had restricted carbs and I took it off and put on a set from a 78 454 which was the only difference... and it doubled the power...
I need to find my factory papers. It shows the curves and every thing. Maybe its 82-8300 rpms, but I swear it was 85-8700 rpms for peak hp, and like 7700 for peak torque. An I know for sure my buddy said his bike only had 38 hp. Which we all made fun of him for. My 17hp honda 250 rebel went across country no problems, but he though his bike, twice the size, more than 3x displacement, would have troubles. lol. I rode that rebel for 20,000 miles!! lol

Depends if it was a California bike and if it had the revlimiter... Belt or chain drive.. Or if someone swapped out the carbs and the crossover and they would run... Anyone who bought one new would have done that... Mine wouldn't want to jump start unless you were going 30 because of the wet clutch and the rev limiter would shut the bike off till you shift in neutral at a stop then start it... It was a dog till I took all the 82 off it...

Oh the 400's and 440's were no dogs. Pretty wicked bikes for their size and day. Built to a standard america has never seen since then. The old 400 I had, I would run from the cops on. Well one officer, the boy friend of the daughter of the couple I worked for. She ( daughter) was also an officer on a different force across the river. Anyway, I flew by him at 0ver 100 mph, he knew who I was. So he drove to my house and waited. lol. I came flying down the street, soon as I started to slow to my drive ( already clicked the garage door button), boom lights and sirens, So I scoot, into the garage and hit the emergency release.

He pulls in, shuts off the lights and noise, walks in and is like, " Hey Karl, wanna slow down a little? lol . You coming to Lisa's party........"

Man I about pooped myself!!! lol

Idk where you got your numbers at,
Karl, I looked up the factory specs.
The Factory Specs have been out on that bike for 40 years :ROFLMAO: you can look it up all over the internet

Besides a 29 cubic inch motor has it's limits

BTW, I didn't say your bike had a rev limiter

Yeah, belts are $650 bucks!!! Everything else is pretty reasonable though. Good think I only need a belt every now and then.

I like the numbers that came with the bike. Lots of info on the net, but not all of it is right. Got to search and sift. They even tell you what speeds each gear should be in, in the book. lol

I paid $500 for the bike I believe.

Now I really need to find my sheet, lol. That's pretty close to what I remember, but I swear the rpms were higher and a few more ft/lbs of torque., and the hp was 42.8 or whatever, but basically 43hp.

I love my old Kaw's. They may not be the prettiest, or have all those worthless bells and whistles, but they run forever. lol. My old 400 was falling apart, literally, and I sold it to another guy who loved the crap out of it. lol

Wasn't the night hawk half of the 1000-1100 or whatever size it was Where they just cut the block in half and made two engines out of it. ? if so, that bike was bad arse!! I rode one and was impressed with it. If not, what bike am I talking about?
