$100 Well Spent: Yamaha U5E

I've had a good bit of experience with a similar engine, it was a suzuki 90. It had a rotary valve behind the carb, you can change intake port timing by trimming the fin of the disc/valve.

You guys keep talking bout rotary valve engines, what is the rotary valve & what's it look like. Guess I've been sheltered & never ran across 1 yet.

Uses a rotor vane instead of a piston or reeds. They are sweet. Check out the stuffing muffin guy on YouTube. He runs them. He uses one on his land speed record 50cc bike.

Ok I've seen them then, I watch a lot of whiskey stuffer on youtube.

If you look at the first picture above you can see that the carb is mounted behind the side cover, the valve/disc is splined and rotates with the crankshaft.

Here's what it looks like.

Charlie the books alone are probably worth more than what you paid for the bike, did you run and yell start the truck like the commercial on tv?
Pretty much. It’s pretty dope for the price of a Walmart bike. I was looking for a new project too. I finished my other bike last spring.

I actually have one of those too. I bought it off eBay for $50 to play around with. I wanted to checkout a disk valve. I fixed it up mechanically. I don’t have the electrical components, but I never planned to put it in anything anyways.
