This Blowout Wasn't Supposed to Happen!!!

Having an easy to set up hub mounted sprocket and disc brakes are though.
This would be to complicated.. 🤣

Back to seriousness. I do have a set of wheels from a Walmart Mongoose 27.5 inch MTB. I tried to put an engine on it but it just didn't work on that frame. So now, I got some hub mountable sprocket/rotor ready wheels I am making plans with for the long ahead future. (I do have three engines I still need to try my hand at rebuilding/upgrading). What wheels would you recommend that come at a price of below $150 a set and comes with brake hardware that would be suitable for MBs?

That's a tough bill to fill at that price, I'll see what I can come up with. Mag wheels is only thing that comes right to mind. I'm sure you dont want To go that route again.

Just put the good bearing on it and change them often... Run a forged axle... But I would never recommend a mag wheel...

Honestly, I like them. I'm not going 50 mph and taking turns hard. I just happened to have an issue on 3 different sets all at the same time. One was a bent axle I had a hard time replacing. The other was this bearing blowout that I think was my fault for not having the bearing nut adjusted properly. But I have had these sets going on three years now with no maintenance. The THIRD set I had issue within the same timeframe, arrived damaged from shipping and I screwed the axle all up even worse. These aren't "mag wheel" issues. They are just wheel issues.

I got one set going 32 miles a day and the other set ready to install. The new ones I am waiting on the replacement.

But I would never recommend a mag wheel...
It's really all in how your using your bike that counts when using mags...im only on my gavel road for only 3 house lot lengths and then im on hard pavement roads...If your using it as a street bike and not going insane on it, the mags I use are just perfect...If your off roading alot or on dirt and gravel roads all the time, then you don't want them...For me at least, converting to mags was the best thing i could do.

Recommending mags and even the type of mags really depends on how your using your bike...They are not a general, all purpose type of rim.
